I really like this guy as Superman... yet idk still about Snyder... Hope he does this well...

Also is anyone kinda wishing they did the new 52's Superman suit? Hopefully it'll look something similar onscreen...

Im really looking forward to this film, and Cavill is just selling it to me more, seems very passionate and humble about it all, and from those Immortals clips he definitely seems like a better actor than either Routh or Welling

@Nomis lol-only I. C. E. can do what Lex Luthor never could. I've always wondered since they are putting Supes in a supposedly realistic world, and all the fuss about illegal immigrants, and loss of jobs. Would anyone bring up the subject of an Extraterrestrial Immigration System like in district 9. Or would they just leave the subject out all together. I'm sure with Superman around a few people might get angry because he's put them out of work.

I get so excited about this movie.. I just hope it has a good enough story so that even critics would help it's box office returns when it comes out. Cos us fans will go see it regardless.. We just need these critics to toot a good horn about it to get more money so a franchise can be born of this... Can't wait!

I'm loving the new surge in fan-boy actors, in both Andrew Garfield and Henry Cavill...they clearly know their characters very well, and thats all the more promising :-)

The only thing I want from this movie is for not to bore me to death.

The one thing most people don't mention the super-guy movies(besides that the action is always weak) is that plot device and story telling were alway really weak.

I don't think anyone needs to worry about him not being american, i'm from the UK and we've got an American (Downey Jr) playing a british icon (Holmes) and there is only a select few idiots who care because he plays the role perfectly!

I grew up on Bruce Tim's 90's series and alway injoyed his stories. Shit I've injoyed just about every animated thing Supes show his face in since the 90's and I even injoyed the 50's tv show.

Why can't they get him right in the movies? They make Clark a lil bitch. I don't like watching wimpy characters peroid.

How could any one look up to a bitch made man? Give us a real Superman.

@TheGODDAMNSUPERGUY that is a ridiculous claim on your part. Whether you are a Marvel or DC, Superman is loved and at the very least well respected. He is not and never was hated by "everyone" in America as you claim.

And let's get one thing straight, Superman is the American story. An immigrant to this country who made something of himself. Truth, Justice and the AMERICAN WAY. Not English, not Chinese, not Russian but American. His values came from his adopted kansas family. You want to admire him for his ideals no problem with me. What he stands for should be looked up to as a shining example for all of us. But to say that "He was certainly raised in America, but he in himself is not necessarily American," like Cavill and many others on this very site claim is ignorant and disrespectful of America itself. Because guess what, America is a land of immigrants.

No America? No Superman, easy as that. Yes one of his creators was Canadian, but guess what? Joe Shuster was an immigrant to America where he worked, created Superman, and died in L.A.. Again the American immigrant story.

People that say the fictional character of Superman is ot American are completely cluless if not delusional. Being American has nothing to do with a race or being born here. Where I live there are people from Russia, thailand, the Middle east, black, white etc. what's another immigrant that arrived here as a toddler and grew up in America? If he arrived as an Adult or had no citizenship at all that would be different. And dont use the insane argument of pretending that Superman and Clark Kent are two different people.

Is he a universal or I guess I should say global icon? Sure. Was the character raised and lives in America sure.

In all honesty more of my friends are Superman haters than they are supporters. They always pi$$ and moan about how much of a goodie two shoes he is and how unrelatable the character has become. Yet they are all over Batman's johnson...because so many people can relate to having their parents murdered in front of their eyes and inheriting billions of dollars! What a joke! I can't wait for this movie to come out and Cavill to kill it! I could care less if people think he's American, an alien or whatever...he's a universal symbol of hope!

Superman is an American icon. He was created in the U.S. and given American parents and identity, but his story if you look at it multifaceted. That is why he is accepted and recognized worldwide. It's Superman's ideals and humility that endear him to us. He is character whose origins have a religious bend, whether you see him as a Christ or Moses figure, whether you look at him as a Scifi figure or as the ultimate immigrant story. There is something for everyone, but even with all of this he will always be sen as American. It seems Cavill has a good grasp of this,I think Hell be an awesome Superman.
