In some ways, it feels like there wasn't really all that much hype surrounding the release of the third and final instalment of Peter Jackson's big screen adaptation of The Hobbit, but The Battle of the Five Armies is a box office success regardless. The movie amassed an impressive $52.2 million over the weekend, but has yet to open in China. That will no doubt add a decent amount to the already extremely impressive $722.9 million that the movie has earned worldwide. However, it's still a little too early to say how much it will end up grossing in total. The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey made $1 billion back in 2012, and The Desolation of Smaug followed that up with $958 million the year before last. What did you guys think of The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies?

What do ya'll think about the rumor Of Andrew Garfield and Dane Dehaan for TASM 3?

@MyNameIsKhan

I believe the rumor, Sony is going to push out more Spidey Movies and shove it in Marvels face............

Sony is an old dog who will not learn any new tricks. Sony could make a lot more money if they would just place nice with Marvel.

@JoeMomma29 Sony and Webb should have been well aware/prepared for the criticism of Sony deciding not to make Spider Man 4. And not to my surprise both films have received hate right from the get-go. Are Webb's movies perfect? No. And some of the criticism is fair, but for every sensible critique, you get another 100 Raimi/Maguire stans with comments like " these movies suck" "Tobey was the best one" " Garfield is a egotistical bla blah". That all being said, I know they have plans for at least 3, (although I do remember it being said that there could be up to 6). I think Sony is interfering (just like they did with Spiderman 3) where they aren't [frick]ing needed. I do like the concept of a Venom and Sinister Six movie, I just hope someone else directs those. And if they decide to bring back Webb and TASM 3 isn't at least 4 star quality, then yea time to get somebody new in the director chair. I am in a way glad that they didn't sell the rights to Marvel, maybe in the future but definitely not now. Even THOUGH Spider Man is apart of the Civil War storyline he is not absolutely needed for the Captain America Civil War to be a great movie.
Well folks, I've said more than a mouthful, start your arguments.

I agree, Sony knows that have a gold mine in Spiderman but they are trying to figure out how to mine it correctly.

And it is sad to say but they will hold Spiderman hostage for as long as they can.

@dethpillow I commend your argument and like I said Webb absolutely HAS to get it right this time. It's not fair to Andrew and Dehaan(who imo stole the show in TASM 2). I think as long as the romance part it isn't as present and there aren't 1 million Easter eggs in the movie, then I definitely think it could work.

I totally agree, also at this point Marvel really doesn't need Spidey, I like how all these other characters are getting attention in the MCU, never imagined we'd have an Inhumans movie, and I really want to see what they do with Black Panther, Captain Marvel, etc....

Also, Sony should be able to make a decent Spider-Man movie. If they don't change actors they should definitely change directors and writers, and they need to decrease the studio (Sony execs) interference and let the director and writers do their job

With the success of this as well as the total take I wonder how long it will be before they produce more middle earth based films.

Lol yea I was to waiting for the article because a Spidey fan doesn't need to be preaching his opinion about Spider Man movies on a Tolkien article. I don't think Gandalf would like that......

Horrible movie. First took some getting used to, two was enjoyable and I walked out thinking this trilogy would be redeemable with the third outing. Boy was I wrong.

@dethpillow

I see what your saying

A part of me also wants to say that "It's hard to make a good Spider-Man movie" but I know that it's really not.

I'm trying to figure out why it's so hard for Sony and I think it's because they need to stop worrying about setting up a Spidey Universe and focus on writing a good Spider-Man story. What I read in those e-mails is craziness, they really have no idea what their doing. I think their just trying so hard to make a movie that will make as much money as The Avengers or Iron Man, I can't blame them but I doubt that will happen until they really focus on the story and the heart of Spider-Man.

I don't think I can get behind the current interpretation though, the parents and the blood thing, and I'm not sold on Garfield or Dehann, even though I like Dehann as an actor, I don't see Goblin, at all. They also totally murdered the night Gwen Stacy died....

Sony is just [frick]ed.
