It looks like Javier Bardem might still have a bone to pick with Jack Sparrow after Sparrow's last Pirates of the Caribbean adventure ended with Bardem's wife, Penélope Cruz (Esquire's Sexiest Woman Alive 2014), stranded on a deserted island.

His plans for revenge look to be coming to fruition sooner than later as earlier today, TheWrap reported that the Academy Award winner is in early talks to play the villain in 2017's Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales, which will be the fifth installment in the billion-dollar Johnny Depp-led franchise. The role in question is that of Captain Brand, who is "a ghost bent on revenge against Capt. Jack Sparrow, who he holds responsible for the murder of his brother.

The fifth Pirates of the Carribbean adventure will see both Johnny Depp return as Captain Jack Sparrow and Geoffrey Rush return as Barbossa. Outside of them, it has been rumored that Orlando Bloom, Keith Richards, Ian McShane, and Stephen Graham may appear in some capacity.

Bardem, as many of you know is no stranger to playing the villain having played the iconic Anton Chigurh in No Country for Old Men & Raoul Silva in Skyfall. His casting would provide a more than formidable foe for Depp's Sparrow. What do you guys think? Sound off with your thoughts below!
