Addressing the Ant-Man rumor like any other casting rumor, The Dark Knight Rises actor Joseph Gordon-Levitt suggests that nothing is yet official and he's still only in discussions for the potential role.

Declared yesterday as one of the front-runners for the title role in Edgar Wright's Ant-Man film, actor Joseph Gordon-Levitt recently attended the Paris premiere of his directional debut, Don Jon. And with The Huffington Post on the scene, The Dark Knight Rises actor was pressed about signing on for the 'Phase 3' Marvel Studios adaptation. "There is always a lot of rumors around these projects and so far it is still only discussions," Gordon-Levitt said. "I am always very transparent when it comes to my role and my career. I'm Usually the first to speak and communicate with my fans if something happens. If you hear nothing from me, they are just rumors."

A typical Joseph Gordon-Levitt response; one similar to when he was rumored for Star-Lord in Guardians of the Galaxy. Anyhow, as reported yesterday, Levitt is in contention with Anchorman 2 actor Paul Rudd for the lead Ant-Man role, and the two thespians will apparently meet with director Edgar Wright and Marvel executives once more before a deal is made. And with the possibility of a third actor being considered, Ant-Man is expected to start shooting in England either closer to this year's end or beginning of 2014. And the anticipated film is slated for release on July 31, 2015.

He still said they were having discussions. So he has talked with Marvel about a role.

But it may or may not be Antman.

I do enjoy JGL performances, but Rudd is more suited for this one!

Yeah, I tend to agree. I'm all for actors sorta redefining your view of how a character can look, but there's something perpetually youthful and boyish about JGL that I can't quite marry with any version of Ant-Man.

That said, I really do have the out-most confidence in Marvel Studios at this point, and if they settle for JGL, I'm sure it suits whatever their/Wright's pitch for the character is.

Really could see either one of these guys playing the role, so either way, sounds good!

JGL would be better off as Dr Strange.

I would be the first to say I'm a huge fan of JGL, but I'm thinking that would Rudd could do the role slightly better, still wouldn't protest if JGL does happen to be cast.

I'm cool with both actors.

I watched Idiocracy for the umpteenth time last night and it occurred to me that if this is the type of actor that Marvel is looking to go with (i.e. one with comedic chops) then Dax Shepard is probably worth consideration.

Antman is better suited for another Actor... and JGL is better suited for a different superhero

As long as hank pym end up in the avengers i'm fine. The Main characters should be Hank Pym, Wasp, Scott LAng (He can steal the suit but hank needs to get it back) and egghead should be the main villain.

I like JGL he is actually one of my favorite actors but Ewan McGregor is and will always be my choice for Ant-Man even though I don't see the point in the movie.

Weren't they considering JGL for Dr. Strange about a month ago?

I'd prefer Rudd for Ant-Man, even though Joseph is a great actor.

I think Paul Rudd is a terrible choice for Ant-Man. His brand of dry, sarcastic humour sucks in Judd Apatow's movies, why would it be any better in an Edgar Wright film? JGL I could live with, but I'd rather have him as Dr. Strange to open a new franchise. Not just a one-off film about a crappy character.

Don't like Ant-Man, happy they took Ultron away, now we won't have to deal with Ant-Man as much. Maybe we'll get lucky and Ant-Man will never make it to the Avengers.

But I do think, Simon Pegg, Aaron Eckhart, or Ewan McGregor would work.

He's honest enough to address fan speculation and confirming stuff, I'll give him that. I'd happily have him as Ant-Man. Although Simon Pegg would've been good too.

No to Rudd. Has more success as a supporting character in movies. As a leading man, not so much.

NovaCorpsFan - 10/15/2013, 10:24 AM
Simon Pegg would refuse, trust me. That man knows his limits and accepts them. He'd never want to star in a movie if his casting in such a movie would be considered a bad move and let Edgar take heat for it. They're way too close for him to accept a role that may hinder one of his best friend's careers.

It's possible they go with both. There's Pym, Lang, even O'Grady. I could see JGL play O'Grady or Lang, and Rudd play Pym.

If MARVEL want another shity comedy hire Simon Pegg, If MARVEL want a TDKR spinoff
hire Joseph Grodon Levitt, If MARVEL want an intelligent CB movie hire Patrick Wilson.

Oooo, let me start a rumor right now. Neither of these guys get the role...they're too old. The guy from Sons of Anarchy, who was going to be in 50 Shades of Grey, he dropped out of it to take Ant-Man (rumor). Think about it. Can you see either JGL or Rudd as abusive? Hell NO. They're pussies. But that guy, he can play nice and then turn mean, and be believable at it. And he's already got the body for the role. He should be the one to get it.

"@Enphlieuwince, Im sorry im just not a fan of Rudd. Although, if JGL does have a Nightwing film i will fanboy my rage away."

Lol, fair enough... I know DC wants to keep their shared universe separate from what Nolan did, BUT, a Nightwing movie with JGL in the lead is something I could really get excited about.
