Warner Bros. has launched a new website and released new stills in the hopes of generating Oscar buzz for Christopher Nolan's third and final Batman film, The Dark Knight Rises. Also, decide which category the film has the best chance of winning at the Academy Awards.

2005's Batman Begins was only nominated for one Oscar, and that went to Wally Pfister, but he lost to Dion Beebe (Memoirs of a Geisha). While 2008's The Dark Knight was treated much better at 81st Academy Awards, as the film was nominated in eight categories: Actor in a Supporting Role, Art Direction, Cinematography, Film Editing, Makeup, Sound Editing, Sound Mixing, and Visual Effects. The film ended up winning two of those categories as Heath Ledger won Best Actor in a Supporting Role and Richard King won for Best Sound Editing. So, how well or poorly will the Academy treat The Dark Knight Rises?

The Dark Knight Rises will be released on DVD, Blu-ray and Digital Download on December 4th. The film stars Christian Bale as Bruce Wayne/Batman, Michael Caine as Alfred Pennyworth, Gary Oldman as Jim Gordon, Tom Hardy as Bane, Anne Hathaway as Selina Kyle, Joseph Gordon-Levitt as John Blake and Marion Cotillard as Miranda Tate.

Sorry, TDKR doesn't deserve any major Oscars, it's not nearly as good as TDK.

Wow, new stills! This is so exciting, I can't believe these images weren't included in the movie that I saw! This makes me think the movie is so much better and that it deserves an award!

It definitely deserves Best Director, Actor, Actress, Score, Cinematography and maybe Picture/Screenplay. I honestly thought it was a better film than Dark Knight, other than a couple of things.

You may or may not like this movie, that is your opinion, but we should all be supporting this campaign regardless.

CBM's have come such a long way and you know what: They deserve to be seen as high quality productions now. Yeah, there will still be the bad movies, but when it is about time they are taken seriously.

You have terrible films winning all the time, and the academy mocks CBM as if they are uneducated action flicks, but they need to realise that is no longer the case and until we push for a CBM to win an award, then it will never be taken seriously.

Imagine if it did win, we would no longer a CBM fans have to vindicate to anyone why we watch these films. People could be like "You like CBM's" and we could turn around and say "What you mean CBM's that have won academy awards? Yeah, I like them"

@SageMode Every film that thinks has a chance of an oscar will try and generate buzz, especially if released several months before.

If this tells us anything it is you can probably expect a re-release of the film about a month out from the awards to replant it fresh in everybodies minds.

After watching The Amazing Spider-Man a few more times, I honestly think it had better effects than Avengers.

There were a few scenes in TASM where I thought they used real people for certain parts of a scene, but it turned out to actually be CG.

There were many times in Avengers when the green screen effect was so obvious. They did a good job with Hulk, but the environment and some other effects were terrible.

I like most others felt underwhelmed when I first watched this but after more viewings it is an excellent movie but Oscar worthy well maybe sound or cinematography but best picture or actor nominations I can't see it. I think we all expected too much from TDKR.

I think this film has a real shot at winning best cinematography. Everyone agreed that the film at least looked stunning and maybe Hathaway can pick up best supporting actress (small chance but hey I think she was a real surprise for all of us because of how good she was).

TDKR was a good movie, but Oscar-worthy? Not really. Maybe best cinematography, but that's about it.

Only ones I disagree strongly with are Bale, Hardy, Caine, Cotillard and Best Film Editing. All were the weakest parts of the film for me. Disagree with JGL as well, love him great actor but this was not a remarkable let alone Oscar worthy role for him. The rest I'm fine with if they get the nom.

As much as I want CBM's to be taken more seriously, TDKR doesn't deserve an Oscar for pretty much anything. An argument could be made for Best Score and MAYBE Best Cinematography but nothing else. Also, I'm not going to support the campaign for an oscar of the movie JUST because it is a CBM. That is stupid. With that logic, the first Hulk film should have won Best Picture.

Not Oscar worthy at all, major disappointment. Actually, Hans Zimmer should get the Oscar for the score, one of the best composers in film at the moment.
