You'd expect that one the first red carpet event in two years there are enough questions to be asked about the past two years, but apparently those two years were also long enough for interviewers to forget Feige is the master of non-answers.

Anyways, it doesn't surprise me that there isn't much news yet about this movie. My guess is it'll be released july 2023, so it'll be another year I think.

Sadly i lost all my hype for F4 with the name Jon Watts. Cannot for the life of me understand how he got the job. Maybe some contract technicality that meant he had to do another film? Maybe they will get Raimi for Spidey 4 and he had to do be given something else?

Or maybe Feige thinks he's a good fit for the job and i will be proven wrong.

@TheManWithoutFear - I'm thinking the latter

@TheManWithoutFear - https://deadline.com/2019/08/spider-man-disney-marvel-sony-director-jon-watts-next-film-courtship-1202702851/

This is why. When Marvel and Sony fought briefly and it looked like he was out of the MCU post Far from Home, both companies wanted Watts as like a [frick] you to the other. Sony had, well, what's now No Way Home. What could Marvel offer Watts to get him to leave finishing a trilogy he started? Answer: Fantastic Four. In the end, circumstances ended up that he got to do a third Spider-Man film anyway AND still had FF. A best case scenario for Watts, for sure, but for the rest of us, well...

As for the casting of this gonna happen one of these days movie, I always got the feeling that the Krasinski/Blunt duo wasn't that into taking on the roles of Reed and Sue Richards, primarily Blunt. So although I do believe it would be a good fit for a more mature take on the two, I wouldn't be butt-hurt if they passed. Not sure who I would like in the roles to be honest. But Marvel (under Feige) seems to have a more than decent casting record so I'm not sweating it either.

@Mugens - and it sounds like Feige already has news to share but the timing isn't right so he is keeping it to himself.

You are, one, seemingly presuming they've been offered the role, and two, being presumptuous about there stances on playing such characters.
Mugens
Mugens - 7/2/2021, 4:52 AM
@MosquitoFarmer - I think there have been more than enough prying into how they feel about comic book roles in various published interviews to pretty much figure out where they stand. Especially Blunt. No presumptions here. And I never said they had been offered the role. Reading into something that wasn't said.
MosquitoFarmer
MosquitoFarmer - 7/2/2021, 7:36 AM
@Mugens - You said you wouldn't be butt-hurt if they passed. They can't pass on something unless they've been offered it. And in that primary interview you're talking about her main critique is that we're inundated with superhero stories now everywhere, exhausted of them, but she ends by saying she would do such a role if the character and project were really cool. (And, she gushed about Iron Man like everyone else when it first came out, and had to pass on playing Black Widow because of Gulliver's Travels.)
Mugens
Mugens - 7/2/2021, 8:10 AM
@MosquitoFarmer - Blunt has done more than one interview and she has shown that she wasn't clamoring for any comic related roles, but she wouldn't turn one down either. Even @MasterShakeZula below evidently has the same impression of Blunt's comments. You are still reading a bit into the comments. Ok to satisfy you, if they are "ever" offered the role I wouldn't be butt-hurt if they passed. Its all academic anyway since any FF film is quite a ways off from now.

As excited as I am to hear about casting news, with how much new content we have coming, I think that I have plenty to focus on for now.

@SonOfOdor - I'll need to review the community guidelines... I don't think typing like a schizophrenic is one of the potential reasons for disabling an account...

I've found that it can be easier to read if I place imaginary punctuation marks in some user posts...

It will be another year before they cast. People need to be patient.

I still say Krasinski and Blunt cast together just feels like stunt casting, and she doesn't strike me as a Susan Storm (Richards) type. Katherine Wynnick is my choice of Sue, although Yvonne Strahovski would also be a good choice. IMO.
Jefferys
Jefferys - 7/5/2021, 12:53 PM
@pclark - I would love for Yvonne to play Susan and with her native accent of her Sydney, Australia one - the one she used in the Mass Effect series.
It's still jarring sometimes hearing an Australian accent in films but Yvonne pulls it off for sure.

D23 has been moved from this year to next year. But WB and DC did a digital even last year and they are going to do it this year as well. Their has been talk Marvel and Disney could do something similar.

People keep expecting the '4' with a circle around it is Fantastic Four, but I can easily see it being a troll by Marvel where they reveal its actually Captain America 4 which they announced recently. It makes the most sense to have a Captain America movie serve as the finale of Phase 4.

Anthony Mackie wanted to be done with the MCU by the time he reached 50, that gives only 7 or 8 years left in which he'd be willing to do the role. If they want to crank out a Captain America trilogy then they need to get moving.

I can see Fantastic Four being the first Phase 5 film releasing in 2024 instead.

@Scarilian - Nope, Feige said in the announcement of the logo that it's the fantastic four.
BobGarlen
BobGarlen - 7/2/2021, 6:22 AM
Watts probably hasn't had much time to even begin working on the Fantastic Four let alone cast it. I'd say 6 months after no way home we'll start hearing about casting.
