DOLITTLE: Robert Downey Jr. Holds Animal Auditions In This New Teaser Video

We saw the first trailer for Dolittle back in October, and Universal has now debuted a new teaser featuring star Robert Downey Jr. auditioning his various animal pals for some other well-known movies...

Robert Downey Jr. may be done with Iron Man, but the actor will now turn his attention to one of literature's most endearing characters for Universal Pictures' upcoming take on Doctor Dolittle.

The studio has now shared a new teaser for the movie. It doesn't actually contain any footage, but we do get to see the good doctor's furry and feathered co-stars auditioning for various classic movies such as Jurassic Park and Scarface.

The first trailer for the comedy adventure didn't exactly bowl people over when it was released last month, but it could still turn out to be a fun time. The voice-cast is very impressive, if nothing else.

There's Tom Holland as Jip the dog, John Cena as Joshi the polar bear, Craig Robinson as Kevin the squirrel, Marion Cotillard as Tutu the fox, Selena Gomez as Betsy the giraffe, Octavia Spencer as Dab-Dab the duck, Ralph Fiennes as Barry the tiger, Rami Malek as Chi-Chi the gorilla, Kumail Nanjiani as Plimpton the ostrich, and Emma Thompson as Polly the parrot.

After losing his wife seven years earlier, the eccentric Dr. John Dolittle (Downey), famed doctor and veterinarian of Queen Victoria’s England, hermits himself away behind the high walls of Dolittle Manor with only his menagerie of exotic animals for company. But when the young queen (Jessie Buckley, Wild Rose) falls gravely ill, a reluctant Dolittle is forced to set sail on an epic adventure to a mythical island in search of a cure, regaining his wit and courage as he crosses old adversaries and discovers wondrous creatures.

The doctor is joined on his quest by a young, self-appointed apprentice (Dunkirk’s Harry Collett) and a raucous coterie of animal friends, including an anxious gorilla (Oscar® winner Rami Malek), an enthusiastic but bird-brained duck (Oscar® winner Octavia Spencer), a bickering duo of a cynical ostrich (The Big Sick’s Kumail Nanjiani) and an upbeat polar bear (John Cena, Bumblebee) and a headstrong parrot (Oscar® winner Emma Thompson), who serves as Dolittle’s most trusted advisor and confidante.

Dolittle is set to hit theaters on January 17. Check out some recent character posters below by clicking the view list button, and let us know what you think
