Timothee Chalamet will lead the cast of Denis Villeneuve's Dune as Paul Atreides when the sci-fi adaptation hits US theaters on October 21, and the Call Me By Your Name actor will soon bring another famous literary character to life as a younger take on Willy Wonka.

With production on Warner Bros. Charlie and the Chocolate Factory prequel now underway, Chalamet has taken to Twitter to share a first behind-the-scenes look at Wonka.

We still don't know a whole lot about this one, but around the time Chalamet's casting was announced, we learned that Wonka will mark the first time the actor will "get to show off his singing and dancing skills with several musical numbers set to appear in the film."

Paddington director Paul King will take the helm of Wonka, which has been confirmed to be a prequel to Roald Dahl's classic children's book. The movie is set to hit theaters on March 17, 2023, and will focus on the early life of the eccentric chocolatier.

Wonka is being developed from a script by Simon Rich (An American Pickle), with David Heyman (the Harry Potter movies) set to produce.

@santoanderson - Because Hollywood is completely devoid of creativity and originality.

That actually looks really good, lol. I'm saying this like he has a superhero costume on or something, but man... He's like a mixture of Gene Wilder and Johnny Depp.

He looks good, fits in the role nicely.

But why tho ? I doubt he could bring the quirkiness Gene or Depp brought to the role. He’s a good actor but only in certain roles because he always has the same depressed expression lol

He’s a very talented actor, excited to see him in Dune, and Paul King behind the camera is enough reasons to be excited. Paddington 1 & 2 are as close to perfect as family movies can go. The concept sounds dumb but the team is too promising to dismiss outright.

I thought this movie was a joke, so it's happening. Hollywood is really and runs out of ideas for movies. Will anyone want to watch the origin story of Willy Wonka??

@THEKENDOMAN - I hate to be devils advocate, but people said the exact same thing about Venom… and look how that turned out.

@Se4M4NSt4ine - Matey, you know what. Venom is even a far example. I would say Maleficent, and to be honest, I enjoyed that and the sequel. So you do have a point. Let's see, and be sure to give me your thoughts.

He's a good actor but also everything I've seen him in he's whispered/ mumbled his lines, hoping in this he kinda... speaks up a little more haha

The very last godd@mn thing we needed on this planet was a Willy Wonka prequel..... *SIGH*

Originality is dead.

Hollywood is dead.

Movies are dead.... SMH.

@SuperiorHeckler - You could always, you know, watch and support the original movies that get made but mostly fail to see major success leading to the lack of funding for new content.

Don’t think I’ll catch it until streaming. Caught the trailer before The Green Knight and it looks pretty crazy…

Haven’t seen Suspiria since it’s theatrical release.
