Guinevere Goes From Myth To Legend On This Stunning New Character Poster For KING ARTHUR: LEGEND OF THE SWORD

We haven't seen much of Guinevere in the trailers, but a new character poster has been released placing the spotlight on her, and possibly revealing the role she plays in the born King's resurgence!

Anyone that's even slightly familiar with the King Arthur lore knows the importance of Guinevere's role in his journey, and despite not featuring heavily in the trailers for Guy Ritchie's King Arthur: Legend of the Sword, we know that the character, now played by Àstrid Bergès-Frisbey, will once again play a big part in the story - but it sounds like she might come with a bit of a twist.

Warner Bros. Pictures released a new poster for Bergès-Frisbey's character yesterday with a caption that describes her as "The Mage," which essentially translates into "the magician." Considering Merlin will also be involved in this film in some capacity, could this new version of Guinevere be one of his disciples? Or does she have an entirely different part to play as the official synopsis & cast list released by WB also labels her as Mage and not as Guinevere?

Charlie Hunnam (Sons of Anarchy) stars in the title role as the born King with a supporting cast that features Bergès-Frisbey (Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides), Jude Law (Sherlock Holmes), Djimon Hounsou (Guardians of the Galaxy), Eric Bana (Hulk), Annabelle Wallis (The Mummy), Aidan Gillen (Game of Thrones), and Hermione Corfield (Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation).

Acclaimed filmmaker Guy Ritchie brings his dynamic style to the epic fantasy action adventure “King Arthur: Legend of the Sword.” Starring Charlie Hunnam in the title role, the film is an iconoclastic take on the classic Excalibur myth, tracing Arthur’s journey from the streets to the throne.

When the child Arthur’s father is murdered, Vortigern (Jude Law), Arthur’s uncle, seizes the crown. Robbed of his birthright and with no idea who he truly is, Arthur comes up the hard way in the back alleys of the city. But once he pulls the sword from the stone, his life is turned upside down and he is forced to acknowledge his true legacy…whether he likes it or not.
