James Franco in Wrath of the Titans?

As Warner Bros. gets ready to ramp up on the sequel to Clash of the Titans -- Wrath of the Titans -- word is that James Franco is being pursued for the role of Agenor, son of Poseidon.

Also being approached is Javier Barem for the role of the god of war, Ares. Jonathan Liebsman (Darkness Falls, The Killing Room, the forthcoming Battle: Los Angeles) is directing, with Sam Worthington and Gemma Arteron returning from the original. Among the writers involved are Green Lantern and The Flash's Greg Berlanti and Dan Mazeau, and David Leslie Johnson (The Girl With the Red Riding Hood).

Franco is currently on screens in the critically acclaimed 127 Hours and will be starring next summer in Caesar: Rise of the Apes.
