LORD OF THE RINGS TV Adaptation From Warner Bros. Reportedly In Development For Amazon

It looks like Warner Bros. may be planning to adapt J.R.R. Tolkien's epic fantasy novels for the small screen, as Variety reports that there's a Lord of The Rings TV series in the works at Amazon...

Peter Jackson has already successfully adapted J.R.R. Tolkien's Lord of The Rings novels into a trilogy of movies, but it seems the studio behind those critically acclaimed features is now looking to bring the adventures of Frodo, Gandalf, Gollum and co. to the small screen.

According to Variety, Warner Bros. Television and Tolkien's estate are in talks with Amazon Studios to develop a series based on the exploits of the now iconic Middle Earth characters. However, negotiations are said to be in the very early stages, and no deal has been reached yet.

This news will most likely split opinion, but keep in mind the initial uproar that greeted the movies when they were first announced, and most Tolkien fans would agree that Jackson did a superb job on them overall.

What do you guys think? Excited at the prospect of a Lord of The Rings TV show, or should the idea be tossed into the fiery chasm from whence it came?
