@editninja-This movie was not that bad. Yeah, some scenes were rushed but overall there was good acting, entertaining special effects, and the movie didn't take itself that serious as other CBMs.

I didn't think the movie was that bad, but it was really really dark. Like, the picture was just dark, because of the 3D

"the movie didn't take itself that serious as other CBMs"

I think that's the main problem with the movie...they tried to promote it as a serious CBM,at least with the second trailer (remember those epic scenes in the trailer with Parallax blowing sh*t up,the serious tone music and Reynolds speaking dramatically the Green Lantern's Oath?)

The Extended Cut isn't any better. Most of it was more boring back story of Hal and his father that seemed redundant with the flash back scenes. I really wanted to like this movie but didn't seem much better than Ghost Rider.

Parallax wasn't done justice, not enough space, etc, etc, blah blah ad infinitum. We've talked it to death already.

Look, if Hammond hadn't been in this movie it would have been decent. Yeah it was a little talky in the middle but that wouldn't have been as much of a buzzkill if the rest of the movie was training & Parallax scenes. it's the poorly conceived, poorly executed and hammily acted Hammond that dragged the thing down into suck.

not to mention turning what should have been a brutal character into a simpering whiny cheesebag.

The Extended cut is better than the theatrical version by a mile but its still prone to the same corny crap that made most people not interested in this in the first place. There's no getting away from the fact that Green Lantern is corny superhero in the worst fashion so no matter how accurate they do the film as an adaptation its not gonna be for liked by anyone but fanboys.

1: The whole Parallax thing is forced fed into the movie and feels as contrived as hell. Why would an Alien call itself by a name based on an Earth Language? Before they ruined the comic, Parallax was just the name Hal gave himself when he stole all the power of the rings. Now that they contrived that crap to say he was possessed by an entity called parallax, the movie version makes it visually clear how stupid that "quick-fix" DC made up to please fanboys really was!

2: The movie treat the Corps as bad as The Star Wars prequels did the Jedi, they seem like a bunch of powerful guys who aren't too smart and just sit around doing nothing. The Extended cut gives about 6 of them a fight with Parallax that's a blink-and-you-miss-it affair but other than that all they do is shine their rings in the sky!

3: Green Lantern as a concept is just too basic and silly. He has to charge his green ring from a green lantern and say a rhyme! All that is stupid and corny, for the movie they should have done away with the corny rhyme and the recharging the lantern crap because (a) it's cheesy and (b) the only time they used the recharge thing as a plot device was for a joke when he was showing off his costume to his friend! The best conception of GL was Kyle Rayner's and he did away with both of these from the initial comics and that alone made his tales a better and far mature read!

4: The ridiculous green constructs especially the RACE CAR one! The concept alone is unattractive to most because its just too all powerful a gadget to make general audiences feel the hero can ever be in real danger. But at least make the constructs a lot less corny and cheesy to give the character some level of cool factor! Even the alien Green Lanterns were making corny and cheesy EARTH-BASED constructs to fight and all that does is lessen the plausibility of the film and ruin the escapism that the audience pay for.

I know there are fanboys out there who love this character in all his corny ways. But to be honest in order to make him as appealing as other less corny superheros like Batman and Iron Man, he would have to have gone through a lot more creative adaptation to make him more attractive a sales pitch. And if a genre movie like this doesn't take itself seriously, then audiences don't feel inclined to take it seriously either, not serious enough to pay for the escapism. The most popular and biggest grossing comic films of all time all took themselves and there genre very seriously and that's why they were a success.

The scene where he fights Paralax in the city is the best part. I like the swift pacing from construct to construct. I like when he makes the springs, launches the gas tank and blows it up. But overall, the film looks like its unfinished.

They really blew it. They approached it like it was a movie like Underdog or something. Really child level.
