GREEN LANTERN CORPS Eyes MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE - FALLOUT Director Christopher McQuarrie; Synopsis Revealed
We have an update on Warner Bros.' search for a director for the Green Lantern Coprs movie. It seems the studio is interested in Christopher McQuarrie, who helmed the upcoming Mission: Impossible sequel...
It's been a while since we've had any updates on Warner Bros.' Green Lantern Corps movie, and many fans were concerned that the studio may put the brakes on the reboot in the wake of Justice League's disappointing run at the box office. However, writer David S. Goyer recently confirmed that the movie was still moving forward, and we now have an update on director status.
Last we heard, Rise of the Planet of The Apes director Rupert Wyatt was rumoured to be in line to helm the picture, but That Hashtag Show now reports that the studio is actually looking to Christopher McQuarrie (Jack Reacher, Mission: Impossible-Rogue Nation, Mission: Impossible-Fallout) to take charge of the project.
In addition, a brief logline for the movie gives us a much better idea of what to expect from the plot:
"Former test pilot Hal Jordan, now a veteran of the intergalactic group of protectors of peace and justice known as the Green Lantern Corps, mentors young recruit John Stewart."
Apparently, WB is looking to cast an actor in the 39-50 age range to play Jordan, so yes, frequent McQuarrie collaborator Tom Cruise might just be a possibility.
We're getting way ahead of ourselves, of course, because we don't even known if the director will agree to board the project - but the source is solid, so expect to hear more on this over the next couple of days.
