Dave Bautista has made it clear that he'll walk away from Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 if James Gunn's script isn't used but a new report claims that Marvel and Disney are indeed starting from scratch...

Disney's decision to fire James Gunn has received its fair share of backlash but we recently learned that it's highly unlikely the studio will give the filmmaker another chance (despite Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 cast members releasing an open letter defending him). We do know that Gunn turned in a completed screenplay shortly before being let go, but will Marvel Studios actually end up using that?

It would look more than a little hypocritical for a "Written By James Gunn" credit to flash up on screen after Disney decided he's not worthy of taking the helm of the threequel, and now a new rumour claims that the studio is going back to the drawing board for Vol. 3 and will not only scrap the filmmaker's story, but significantly delay production by going back to the drawing board to start from scratch.

Bear in mind that this news doesn't come from the trades and should be taken with a pinch of salt as a result. However, if this is indeed the case, Dave Bautista won't be returning as Drax because he's already made it clear that if Gunn's script isn't used, he'll be asking Marvel to release him from his contract. What do you guys think? As always, share your thoughts on that in the comments section.

When AMC fired Chris Hardwick after the abuse allegation, they at least did the right thing by doing their own investigation and found no abuse really happened, and went ahead and reinstated Hardwick. He got his jobs back with AMC and NBC.

Disney should also just do the same thing with James Gunn instead of them being stubbornly more and more stupid about this situation as each day goes by.

James Gunn should sue Disney. Prejudice on a larger scale.

@Jordanstine - AMC and NBC surprised me in how they handled those allegations.

They were calm, moved slow, and brought in professionals.

In fact, he they never actually fired him.

While not entirely similar, I hope that it becomes more standard to respond as AMC did.

@Jordanstine - Hardwick was never actually fired.

@Jordanstine - Hardwick didn't also post insensitive tweets that were used as evidence against him. Gunn screwed himself, proof was there against him. Again, comparing apples to oranges.

@TeddiRxpn01 -
Bautista probably took this stand because he knew they were ditching Gunn's script.

Oh well. Bye.

@Jordanstine - Interesting: an Oscar-winning actor claimed earlier this year he was horrorfied at accusations from eight women about his inappropriate behavior and sexual harassment, citing that his lewd comments and unwanted touching was just his way of joking to compliment women.
The actor has apologized severl times admitting "Clearly I was not always coming across the way I intended".

The veteran actor honored with a Star on the 'Hollywood Walk Of Fame' will soon appear in the Disney 'The Nutcracker and the Four Realms'.

Actual LOL!

@DBLACK - AMEN !!!!!

aka Morgan Freeman

Actual harassments claims with several victims and yet Disney doesn't do anything. Disney Double Standards. James Gunn should definitely sue Disney.

@Jordanstine - In what universe are those two similar?

If someone just claimed Gunn said these things then it would be the game except in this case Gunn did say these things. THeres proof, he's admitted it.

So yeah not even remotely the same.

@TeddiRxpn01 - My guess now is an Avengers 4 reshoot where Drax sacrifices himself to save humanity. This will be Disney's way of breaking Dave's contract and replace him with:

Fogs

@SonOfAGif - They should've made him go with Thor to Nidavelir, and having him sacrificing himself to make Stormbreaker when Thor falls to the star energy.

Would be a great arc for Drax, as he would be sacrificing himself to his personal mission of killing Thanos (Stormbreaker is a Thanos-killing type of weapon, as stated), and adding even more weight for Thor's mission as he would be carrying that stupid bald man's sacrifice with him.

@Fogs - Drax loves Quill. He would have never left his side. Valkyrie should have never been written out. She should have been with Thor & Rocket as well.

@SonOfAGif - The writers could have him wanting a thanos killing weapon for himself or something. IMO that would make a much better arc for Drax, the Nidavelir sequence and Thor.

Looks like my theory about Rocket leading his own team of Guardians in vol 3 is an even bigger possibilty if this is true.

@TheRealMandarin - interesting thought.

I was thinking if they were left down to just rocket groot Peter and Mantis, then it would really suck to never get a second movie where the team is actually all together again.

@ftf530 - maybe in vol 3 we could get a flashback to what the original gang of intergalactic A holes were doing between vol 2 and infinity war👍
ftf530
ftf530 - 8/8/2018, 8:33 AM
@TheRealMandarin - that's what I've been hoping for

A two timeline movie featuring the team together in the four year gap, and it informing / affecting the present where they're all in grief.

Without Drax though, I'm having a little trouble seeing them stay together without Gamora.

Drax may be stupid nowadays, but his stupidity and Gamora's seriousness are two sides of the same coin - "Folks who've lost stuff" that found a new place.

Without either of them, and the seeming lack of growth in the Rocket / Peter relationship (according to IW even tho I thought GOTGv2 addressed it) will make it interesting to me moving forward

Even then, we're still not getting the team back together in those flashbacks if Drax is gone.
