5 Actors That Should Be Considered For He-Man In MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE 5 Actors That Should Be Considered For He-Man In MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE

Jon M. Chu (G.I. Joe: Retaliation) is all but set to direct the next live-action version of Masters of the Universe, but who will play He-Man? Click the jump to check out my top five choices.

5. JOE MANGANIELLO

The 35-year-old actor has already come close to playing a superhero in the past when he was considered for Superman in Zack Snyder's Man of Steel, but a scheduling issue with HBO's True Blood prevented him from completing his audition. Just recently he expressed interest in playing The Punisher and Batman in a future reboot. But could he be interested in dying his hair blonde and riding a green tiger? He certainly has the body for the role and being the tallest actor on the list at 6 feet 5 inches ain't too shabby either. Throw in the fact that he spent most of Magic Mike in a thong he certainly won't mind wearing He-Man's skanky costume.

4. JAI COURTNEY

Jai's star is certainly on the rise. Yeah you might have seen him in Starz's Spartacus: Vengeance, but if you missed him in that you will surely notice him in his upcoming films. He has roles in Tom Cruise's Jack Reacher movie, Aaron Eckhart's I, Frankenstein, and a starring role opposite Bruce Willis in A Good Day to Die Hard. Any actor that can beat out Liam Hemsworth, Aaron Paul, and James Badge Dale for the coveted role of John McClane's son in the next Die Hard is certainly someone to watch for in the future.

3. LIAM HEMSWORTH

In a perfect world Chris Hemsworth would play He-Man. He has the look and the attitude that you need, but sadly He-Man is far too similar of a role to Thor to have that happen. If you can't have Chris why not grab the next best thing, his younger brother. Liam was the runner-up to Chris for the role of the Asgardian superhero, that has to mean Marvel saw some heroic qualities in the young actor. So far Liam is best known for a small role in Hunger Games, and for banging Miley Cyrus, his fiance. I believe he would leap at a chance to make his mark in Hollywood with his own big budget superhero film. It sure would create an interesting sibling rivalry.

2. TREVOR DONOVAN

"By the power of Greyskull!" - I consider this the Christopher Reeve/Brandon Routh pick of the list. Grab a relatively unknown actor that physically fits the part and has loads of talent, but minus the stardom. Someone that will be genuinely excited to have a chance at a starring role in a major franchise, like Masters of the Universe.. The general audience for the most part won't see him as anyone else but He-Man, which is a huge advantage. So far Trevor is best known for playing a gay character, Teddy Montgomery, on 90210. Even more recently he was considered a top contender for Finnick Odair in the Hunger Games' sequel, Catching Fire.

1. CHARLIE HUNNAM

If we use G.I. Joe: Retaliation as a guide to how casting will go, it seems pretty important that Jon M. Chu goes after a lead with star power, like he did with Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson. It was so important for him to land "The Rock", that he let him pick his role from a long list of G.I. Joe characters and adapted the script to fit his choice. So if Chu is looking for an actor that looks like He-Man, but also brings some star power that would be Charlie Hunnam (Sons of Anarchy). Right now Charlie doesn't fit that last statement, but if we look one year, two years out he will. Charlie is the lead in Guillermo del Toro's much anticipated tent-pole, Pacific Rim. It's not out of the realm out possibility that Charlie will soar to the A-list category if Pacific Rim is a summer blockbuster.

I would pick Jai (because I love the spartacus series :) but I think there should be a more serious actor, I think Kellan Lutz would be good (well he got the looks but not a good actor)

Liam Hemsworth. I think he did a pretty good job in Hunger Games and also, I just want to see Thor's brother in a movie by a competing company that owns Marvel's biggest and well-know properties for theatrical use: Spider-Man.

They'd probably go with a name, so Joe, Liam, and Charlie. I think that Trevor guy looks like He-Man with short hair lol.

C'mon, no Armie Hammer? Grrrr. He's like 6'5 and built like a brickhouse.

I'd definitely say Trevor Donovan

I don't think Charlie Hunnam could ever gain the big big physique needed for He-Man

Grif and Jazzy need to cool their jets. If you can't handle guys without shirts on, on a article regarding He-Man, a character who is pretty much naked, then how could you possibly watch a He-Man movie lol? Your contradictive/homophobic nature is amusing to say the least. Only people who are uncomfortable with their sexuality would be bothered by these pictures. Not to mention that there is nothing sexually hinted or intended by these pictures. Think before you type.

If you don't like the article or pics, just move the [frick] on. No need to badger the editor over your own flaws.

Liam Hemsworth.. All the other girls might have the look, but none of them have the personality to play a role such as He-Man. Joe Manganiello isn't bad either

If there was one from the above I had to choose, I'd pro'lly choose Jai Courtney though at 185cm, he is a bit on the shorter side.

My choice is Alexander Skarsgard who was also one of the runners up for the role of Thor. I did a fancast some time ago where I used him.

Wow..no one on that list can pull off being He-Man.
His name says it all & what it means is a big, manly man which only Manganiello has the size & muscularity.

Sorry Joe but your facial features don't quite cut it..too bad ya couldn't cut off Joe's head & put Charlie Hunnam's head on Joe's body..perfect He-Man!

Find an unknown like Chris Hemsworth was before becoming Thor.
