Director John Krasinski announced this morning that A Quiet Place Part II has been delayed indefinitely due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, just one week before it was set to open in theaters worldwide.

His message reads, "To all our A Quiet Place fans, -- One of the things I'm most proud of is that people have said our movie is one you have to see all together. Well due to the ever-changing circumstances of what's going on in the world around us, now is clearly not the right time to do that. As insanely excited as we are for all of you to see this movie... I'm gonna wait to release the film til we CAN all see it together! So here's to our group movie date! See you soon! #AQuietPlacePart2...Take 2. -- JK"

While Paramount Pictures has yet to set a new release date for the hotly awaited sequel, they have shared the following statement, "After much consideration, and in light of the ongoing and developing situation concerning coronavirus and restrictions on global travel and public gatherings, Paramount Pictures will be moving the worldwide release of A Quiet Place Part II. We believe in and support the theatrical experience, and we look forward to bringing this film to audiences this year once we have a better understanding of the impact of this pandemic on the global theatrical marketplace. "

A Quiet Place Part II is the second major blockbuster to shift its release this Spring, following MGM and United Artists pushing back Daniel Craig's final James Bond film, No Time to Die, to November earlier this month. Sony also recently delayed Peter Rabbit 2: The Runaway and Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar announced this morning this his upcoming actioner Sooryavanshi has also been delayed due to COVID-19.

With Paramount bowing out, it now remains to be seen what Walt Disney Studios will ultimately do as they prepare to launch three potentially huge films in the coming weeks with MulanThe New Mutants and Marvel Studios' Black Widow. Theater shutdowns have not been mandated, but almost seem like an inevitability at this point as the government begins to further limit public gatherings.

Following the deadly events at home, the Abbott family (Emily Blunt, Millicent Simmonds, Noah Jupe) must now face the terrors of the outside world as they continue their fight for survival in silence. Forced to venture into the unknown, they quickly realize that the creatures that hunt by sound are not the only threats that lurk beyond the sand path.

A Quiet Place Part II features:
Director: John Krasinski
Emily Blunt as Evelyn Abbott
Cillian Murphy in an undisclosed role
Millicent Simmonds as Regan Abbott
Noah Jupe as Marcus Abbott
Djimon Hounsou in an undisclosed role

A Quiet Place Part II hits theaters on March 20

@tmp3 - And Black Widow, and everything else if they plan to make money with these big movies.

OT

For any NBA fans

Donovan Mitchell has now tested positive. Rudy Gobert was reportedly careless and irresponsible in the locker room according to teammates. He would constantly touch their shit.

Since this is about movies closing due to the virus spreading, imagine if Endgame had come out this year.

If this [frick]ing virus delays Black Widow as well, Hollywood is [frick]ed this year -- more than they already are.

But I guess the entire global economy is [frick]ed at this point.

Streaming services are going to benefit hugely from this.. if no one is going out to see movies, they will stay indoors to watch them.

@BigMikeReviews - Not really. When lots of people get laid off they'll cancel subscriptions to cut costs.

@SonOfAGif - I'd agree if you were for instance subscribed to 5 or 6 streaming services, but Netflix is still relatively cheap enough to hold onto. Humans need entertainment, they'll keep watching TV.
