The Child's Play reboot's teaser appears to re-imagine the knife-wielding kid's toy as a mass-produced killer robot, and it just secured the voice of B:TAS' Joker, Mark Hamill, to bring Chucky to life.

Chucky will return to the big screen on June 21, 2019. in the Child's Play reboot.The film stars Aubrey Plaza, Gabriel Bateman, Brian Tyree Henry, Tim Matheson, and Mark Hamill.

The new film will see the release of a new, must-have "Buddi" doll that has a WiFi symbol over the "i", leading many to speculate that some form of corrupt programming will result in killer dolls wreaking havoc all over the globe. In the Twitter post below, Hamill announces that he will be voicing the killer doll in the upcoming horror film developed by It producer Seth Grahame-Smith.

The story follows a mother named Karen (Aubrey Plaza) who gives her son Andy (Gabriel Bateman) a toy doll, Chucky (Mark Hamill), though they are unaware of its evil nature.

@RocknRolla - @HeavyMetal4Life They are remaking a series that is currently alive and healthy, with a series underway an a couple of succesful films in it's trail.

It's mere existence is nonsensical, could be an interesting movie but for me and a whole lot of people, this is not Child's Play.

@Kleytus - The current series is very very far from healthy, the storyline while interesting is portly acted out productions values aren’t great and the latest test Chucky doll they’re using is the worse the series has seen.

@TheBlueMarvel - it's audience approves of the product they are putting out.
This is a B series and the production is as good as you can expect. If having two recent films well received in sales and critical reception isn't healthy I don't know what it is.

In fact, in my opinion, this big film aura they are trying to imbue the Reboot with is not doing it any favours to it's expectations.
Hamill's casting is the only thing seen as positive for this in Social Media since it's announcement.

@HeavyMetal4Life - gotcha on the post notification thing, but you have to admit for all the things that were "great" about the movies there were a lot of things wrong for it. Some of those faults being in either the acting or for example the ridiculousness of certain kills like when the one woman gets her head cut off by a shard of glass falling on her. The story is about the only thing I can praise about those films and even that is a stretch because the whole Andy possessing a chucky doll thing was kind of a "jumped the shark" moment.

This is genius casting. Hamil is a big name to bring in more tickets, but at the same time, he's also an accomplished voice actor, so this isn't just stunt casting.

I love Abury Plaza but was still going to take a pass on this (at least, in the theater) till I saw Mark Hamill's post yesterday. Now, I might just have to go and shell out the cash to bring the whole family!
