The recent Child's Play remake was actually pretty decent all things considered, but fans of the original franchise were very pleased with the news that Brad Dourif's original Chucky will be slicing his way on to the small screen later this year.

Airing on both USA and SyFy, the spinoff show will see Dourif return to voice the killer toy of the title, and he'll be joined by Bride of Chucky's Jennifer Tilly as the equally kill-happy Tiffany.

This new teaser is brief, but we do get to see the deranged doll being rebuilt, and hear Dourif tell us that Chucky "always comes back" with a maniacal laugh.

“With this TV show, our mission has been to preserve the straightforward scariness of the original film or the first couple of films,” creator Don Mancini explained in a recent interview. “But at the same time, continue on with this ever-expanding tapestry of consistent story that we’ve spun over the course of seven movies and 30-some years. I think fans are really gonna love to see the new characters that we introduce into this realm and just to see how they came off of our classic characters. Not just Chucky, but some of the others that you may be hoping to see. There’s a good chance they may turn up.”

After a vintage Chucky doll turns up at a suburban yard sale, an idyllic American town is thrown into chaos as a series of horrifying murders begin to expose the town hypocrisies and secrets. Meanwhile, the arrival of enemies and allies from Chucky's past threatens to expose the truth behind the killings, as well as the demon doll's untold origins as a seemingly ordinary child who somehow became this notorious monster.”

Chucky is set to premiere this fall, and also stars Devon Sawa, Zackary Arthur, Teo Briones, Alyvia Alyn Lind and Björgvin Arnarson.

Will they address the last movie's Chucky Bunshin no Jutsu?

I wonder how the cult from the last movie will factor into things.

I think we'll meet a member of the Lee Ray family. Maybe Chucky has a young nephew and they will be friends til the end.

@Repian - Also, I want to see old Dourif playing the abusive father of young Charles.

@Repian - SEEING Brad Dourif essentially play his own father would just be perfect casting in my humble and as well as in my very honest opinion anyways.

But what made the original terrifying is that its the spirit of a killer in the doll. Is it the same with the robotic version? Or, just a big malfunction?

@Turtlestrong - Malfunction in the remake, but the series is a continuation of the movies.

Welcome back Brad Dourif! So much better than the horrible voice work Mark Hammil did in the remake.

My favorite horror franchise. Mostly because it was the only one I was allowed to watch as a kid. Looking forward to this!

CHUCKY was never scary to me. It's enjoyable sometimes, but it's gone beyond horror to almost a laughable SCARY MOVIE type parody at this point.

I’m so [frick]ing excited for this. One of the most well-known horror franchises, yet also one of the most underrated? Especially considering just how consistent it’s been since its inception. In celebration, here’s my totally-objective-so-please-don’t-argue-with-me ranking of the series, reboot excluded for “being a totally removed entity” reasons.

1. Child’s Play 2
2. Child’s Play
3. Bride of Chucky
4. Curse of Chucky
5. Cult of Chucky
6. Seed of Chucky
7. Child’s Play 3

Chucky was always a favorite of mine, same with Freddy. So much more personality in their characters then the stoic force of nature that is the likes of Jason, Meyers, etc. Also glad to see Dourif back, the new movie was not Chucky in the slightest. I wonder if his daughter will play a role in this given the end of their previous mainline movies.
