Doctor Sleep continues the story of Danny Torrance, 40 years after his stay at the Overlook Hotel in The Shining.  Ewan McGregor, Rebecca Ferguson, and newcomer Kyliegh Curran star in the supernatural thriller, directed by Mike Flanagan, from his own screenplay based on Stephen King's novel.

The film is out now on Digital Download, and on Blu-Ray, DVD and 4K UHD on March 9th.

The "Director's Cut" of Doctor Sleep features nearly 30 minutes of new, alternate and extended scenes, selected by director Mike Flanagan, not seen in cinemas. Now, we're able to share an exclusive excerpt from a featurette titled "Return to the Overlook." Revolving around the recreation of the iconic hotel, it features some incredible behind the scenes footage and interviews.

With content like this, the movie is going to be a must-have for horror fans, and we'll be sharing our review of the Doctor Sleep Blu-ray for you a little later this week.

Still irrevocably scarred by the trauma he endured as a child at the Overlook, Dan Torrance has fought to find some semblance of peace.  But that peace is shattered when he encounters Abra, a courageous teenager with her own powerful extrasensory gift, known as the "shine."  Instinctively recognizing that Dan shares her power, Abra has sought him out, desperate for his help against the merciless Rose the Hat and her followers, The True Knot, who feed off the shine of innocents in their quest for immortality. Forming an unlikely alliance, Dan and Abra engage in a brutal life-or-death battle with Rose.  Abra’s innocence and fearless embrace of her shine compel Dan to call upon his own powers as never before—at once facing his fears and reawakening the ghosts of the past.

Doctor Sleep is out now on Digital Download, and on Blu-Ray, DVD and 4K UHD on March 9th.

I stayed at the Stanley Hotel at Estes Park, Colorado, where Stephen King came up with The Shining when he was forced to remain there overnight due to a massive storm in the area. Very creepy yet very beautiful.

The hotel they used for the film is not the same. Though you can tell the influences are there in the story, like the long hallways decked out in period carpets and wall decorations.

I really enjoyed Doctor Sleep.

@KillerCroc357 - my wife and I stayed there a couple years ago. Such a cool experience.
Movie note: The Stanley was where King got the inspiration for the shining. They then DID use the Stanley as the Overlook for the made for tv version of the shining. Which is actually much more true to the book.

@Stinkor1 - And even more cool, they play The Shining movie and TV show twenty-four hours daily on one channel. So if you need those spirits to show up sooner rather than later, bring the creepy atmosphere in.

It truly is a pretty location in Estes Park.

The Shining is one of my absolute favs, and I liked the Dr. Sleep movie well enough. I'm one of the people that prefered the overlook stuff to the rest of the movie, which I hear is a split throughout the fans.

If they ever do a remake/readaptation of Shining, I say they cast Ben Affleck as Jack Torrance. Would that be insensitive to cast Affleck as a recovering abusive alcoholic? Maybe. But thats my pick.

fckin Elliott from ET was a poor poor replacement for Jack Nicholson but other than that, the overlook stuff was done well enough

I'm glad they didn't do a deep fake and just replaced the actors with other actors. This deep fake nonesense needs to stop. It was kinda cool with a couple YouTube vids but now it's happening way too much and some I'd you want it done on the big screen?? Shame on the lot of you....... Except for you Black Noir. You've been great.
