Doctor Sleep is a sequel to
The Shining, and while an argument could be made that the movie isn't in need of a follow-up, bear in mind that this is, in fact, a big screen adaptation of a novel written by Stephen King. The author has made it clear that he's not a fan of Stanley Kubrick's movie, but Warner Bros. clearly isn't shying away from tying this sequel into the iconic film.
In fact, there are a lot of visual throwbacks to
The Shining in this first trailer for
Doctor Sleep, and it will be interesting to see how director Mike Flanagan manages to link the books and films together.
With a superb cast made up of names like Ewan McGregor, Rebecca Ferguson, Kyliegh Curran, Bruce Greenwood, and Jacob Tremblay, this is one horror movie definitely worth keeping an eye on, and it certainly looks like a creepy, edge of your seat experience which could cap off a strong year for King fans after
Castle Rock and September's
IT: Chapter 2.
