I think this will take a more Indy smaller budget approach, almost like what Power Rangers recently did... and I think it will be just as “successful” as the 2017 Power Rangers.

Meh. The original is a great goofy comedy with some horror elements that work surprisingly well. The thing that makes the movie work best is the DEADPAN delievery from Murray and others. His character is slimy, but likeable. This just doesn't work today, but Hollywood can't resist trying to make EVERYTHING into a franchi$e.

@Feralwookiee - Ghostbusters can work without that though. The Real Ghostbusters cartoon for example had some truly great work. Channel that type of fun, creepy storytelling and they can have a worthy follow up.

I gave the last one a try and it took a long time to wash that stink off. I suppose I'll give this one a try too. Maybe I'll be surprised.

In universe, if a giant Stay Puft dude appeared and rampaged through the city, probably killing people Godzilla-style, I'd imagine they'd have to retire the mascot.

@Nebula - To be fair that doesn’t necessarily look like a new advertisement. In fact it’s the exact same one used in Ghostbusters.

@newhire13 - Sure, but in that case, I find it hard to believe that it's still up and hasn't been graffitied over or something. Why am I overthinking this? I don't know.

@Nebula - There's been more than a dozen crimes committed that were inspired by The Joker and he hasn't been put to pasture yet.

@Reeds2Much - You raise a good point. On a similar note, I find it ridiculous how there's always in-universe toys and whatnot of characters like Harley Quinn and Batman. That's literally a psychopathic criminal and a vigilante.

I just hope this is somewhat of a conclusion to the original movies and characters instead of a greedy handoff to a new generation so they can continue w/o the original cast..

The only thing this has going for it is the cast, the fact that Dan Ackroyd is so passionate about the material he created, and (maybe) the fact that the original director's son is making it. At least it will be respectful of the material, even if it's not a great movie. And dang Harold Ramis will be missed, he was the best.
