The highly anticipated trailer for
It: Chapter 2 will seemingly arrive this Thursday. Confirmation doesn't come via New Line Cinema or director Andy Muschietti, but rather a billboard ad playing in the middle of Times Square in New York City.
Aside from announcing when the trailer will drop, the ad doesn't actually reveal much. Photos and videos show the iconic red balloon along with the tagline: "Witness the end of it."
It: Chapter 2 is the sequel to 2017's remake of hte supernatural horror film based on Stephen King's novel of the same name. The film takes place 27 years later, with the Losers Club —
now adults — returning to Derry to put an end to Pennywise once and for all.
Andy Muschietti returns to the director's chair with a cast that includes
James McAvoy as Bill Denbrough,
Jessica Chastain as Beverly Marsh, Bill Hader as Richie Tozier, Jay Ryan as Ben Hanscom, James Ranson as Eddie Kaspbrak, Andy Bean as Stanley Uris, and Isaiah Mustafa as Mike Hanlon. Bill Skarsgard is reprising his role as Pennywise, the horrific clown.
It was a surprise hit for the studio when it released, pulling in over $700 million worldwide to become highest-grossing R-rated horror film of all time. It: Chapter 2 is set to release on September 6, 2019.
