SCREAM: New Movie Reportedly In The Works From Gary Barber’s Spyglass Media Group

With the recent resurgence of Michael Myers and Pennywise at the global box office, it sounds like they may soon be joined by Ghostface as it's being reported that a new Scream movie may be in the works...

Bloody Disgusting has learned that a new Scream movie is currently in the very early stages of development at Gary Barber's Spyglass Media Group (formerly Spyglass Entertainment), but it's not entirely clear yet whether it will be a true sequel to the original tetralogy or a reboot of the entire franchise.

It's still way too early in the process to tell, but franchise creator Kevin Williamson is not expected to write the screenplay, although that's subject to change.

The first four hit films were all directed by horror legend Wes Craven with Kevin Williamson writing three of them, including the game-changing first installment, and starred Neve Campbell in the lead role as Sidney Prescott with Courteney Cox and David Arquette also appearing in every installment.

In lieu of a Scream 5, the series was given a small-screen reboot on MTV in 2015, but it was canceled after two seasons and later revived on VH1 where it aired its most recent - and seemingly final - season earlier this year.
