WORLD WAR Z Sequel Gets An Oscar-Nominated Screenwriter

According to Variety, Steven Knight ("Closed Circuit"), has been hired to pen the sequel to Brad Pitt's World War Z. The British screenwriter and film director is best known for his work on Eastern Promises and Locke. Come check it out.

World War Z experienced a huge uphill battle when major last minute changes were made to the film's third act based on suggestions by Damon Lindelof ("Lost"). Despite all of the film's issues behind-the-scenes it surprisingly did well at the box office, warranting a sequel. Now, Brad Pitt's Plan B is looking to solidify the sequel by bringing in an Oscar-nominated screenwriter to flesh out the script. Variety reports: "Oscar-nominated writer Steven Knight has been tapped to pen the sequel to Paramount’s sequel of “World War Z."

Marc Forster won't be back to direct the sequel. That responsibility belongs to Juan Antonio Bayona, who most recently directed the 2012 tsunami film, The Impossible.

WORLD WAR Z - A former UN investigator is thrust into the middle of trying to stop what could be the end of the world. Worldwide destruction sends him around the globe seeking clues about what they are fighting and what it will take to defeat it, as he tries to save the lives of billions of strangers, as well as his own beloved family.

WORLD WAR Z was directed by Marc Forster. The screenplay was written by Matthew Michael Carnahan, Drew Goddard and Damon Lindelof, based on the book written by Max Brooks. The cast includes: Brad Pitt, Mireille Enos, James Badge Dale, and Matthew Fox.
