IRON MAN (2008) Animated Storyboards Feature Unused Robert Downey Jr. Dialogue

Check out five animated storyboards for Jon Favreau's first Iron Man venture. The animatics include slightly variation of key scenes and also include unused dialogue from Robert Downey Jr. (Tony Stark) and Terrence Howard (Colonel James "Rhodey" Rhodes).

The first animatic, is a slightly different version of the opening scene involving Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) riding in the back of a Humvee in Afghanistan with three soldiers guarding him. It includes some unused playful banter between Tony and the soon-to-be dead soldiers. The second animatic, are of Tony and his fellow captive Yinsen (Shaun Tomb) scrambling to get the Mark I suit ready for their escape from the cave. There slight variations between it and the theatrical version, such as more primitive technology used to power up the suit. The third animatic is of the dogfight against two F-22's. As far as I can tell there aren't any notable differences. The fourth animatic, is of the film's climactic battle between Tony in his Mark III armor and Obadiah Stane (Jeff Bridges) in the Iron Monger suit. The most notable difference, is when Iron Man is batted into a bus by a motorcycle that Obadiah swung like a bat. The storyboards focus on the bus being powered by hydrogen fuel cells. Iron Monger then targets those fuel cells and hurdles the motorcycle at them, causing a massive explosion. While in the theatrical version, Obadiah just blasts Tony with a missile. The final video, features new dialogue from the speech that Colonel James "Rhodey" Rhodes (Terrence Howard) gives during the Tony Stark ceremony scene. It includes more information about Tony's father, Howard Stark. By the way, all the animation seen below, were created by James Rothwell.
