The Marvel Cinematic Universe turned ten this year and we're now going back to where it all started by taking a look at this rarely seen concept art and behind the scenes photos of the classic Mark I suit.

Believe it or not, it's now been ten years since Iron Man hit theaters. The movie essentially gave birth to the Marvel Cinematic Universe and while we didn't know it at the time, it created a multi-billion dollar franchise which has produced hit after hit and a world so large that it's hard to keep track of just how many iconic superheroes now call it home. Needless to say, the movie is nothing short of historic.

With Avengers: Infinity War breaking records and giving Iron Man perhaps his most satisfying story arc yet, we're heading right back to the beginning and looking at the first suit he donned in the MCU.

That is, of course, the Mark I armour he donned back in 2008 and fans definitely appreciated seeing a comic book accurate suit kick off Tony Stark's big screen adventures. From alternate designs to an in-depth look at how it was created in concept art and behind the scenes photos, you guys won't want to miss these. So, to check out the full list, all you need to do is click on the buttons down below.

I'm not sure how Tony Stark is contorting his body in such a way but this is an awesome piece of artwork and really creates a feel for how Iron Man's first suit would be portrayed on the silver screen.

This bare-bones version of the Mark I armour shows how Tony Stark managed to bring it to life before adding the pieces of armour which would protect him from the gunfire of The Mandarin's men.

I love this shot of Iron Man walking through the cave as his captors look on in terror and it's fair to say that Robert Downey Jr. and Jon Favreau did an incredible job of bringing this moment to life.

These alternate designs featuring Iron Man's first armour show slightly different takes on the suit by playing around with the metals and materials used by Tony Stark to create this formidable suit.

Here, we see not only a detailed look at the front of the armour but some alternate designs of the back, one of which features the inner workings of the suit and another covered up by metal.

A closer look at the helmet worn by Iron Man at this early point in his tenure as the Armoured Avenger, it's a great homage to the source material and ended up looking excellent on screen.

This bloody shot of Tony Stark shows the future Avenger recovering shortly after waking up from surgery and finding that an arc reactor has been placed in his chest by his new friend Yinsen.

In this rather gruesome shot, we see that Tony Stark is understandably pretty horrified to have woken up with that pretty bizarre looking device embedded in his chest to help keep him alive.

From concept art to visual effects, here we get to see what happens next as Marvel's team of VFX artists take over and start imagining how a creation like this will ultimately look in live-action.

In these behind the scenes images from Iron Man, we get to see the work which went into bringing the hero's first suit to life on the big screen and how it was physically built for Downey to wear.

What a cool's just a shame we'll never get to see Tony Stark wear it again (to be fair, why would he?). What do you guys think of these alternate designs for the Mark I armour? Sound off below!
