IRON MAN 3 Writer Drew Pearce Reveals That GAME OF THRONES' Emilia Clarke Was Cast Before Rewrites
Proving that a lot goes on in Hollywood that we don't know about, Iron Man 3 scribe Drew Pearce has revealed that Game of Thrones' Emilia Clarke was cast in the movie before the story was overhauled...
For years now, comic book fans have put Emilia Clarke's name forward as being perfect for a number of superhero movie roles. For some reason, that's just never happened but back in 2013, it could have! Iron Man 3 writer Guy Pearce has revealed that during an early table read for the threequel, the Game of Thrones star was on hand.
However, it sounds like some big changes to the script led to her character being removed (unless she was set to play Maya Hansen, a role that ultimately went to Rebecca Hall).
It's previously been reported that Marvel Entertainment's Isaac Perlmutter forced Kevin Feige and director Shane Black to replace her as the lead villain because he was concerned with toy sales. That reduced role might be why Clarke walked away but it's equally as likely Marvel Studios had something else in mind for her in the film and Perlmutter just wanted less women on screen.
With any luck, this big reveal from Pearce will lead to someone asking Clarke about her time working on Iron Man 3. Here's hoping that her experience on the movie hasn't ruined the prospect of her ever working with Marvel Studios (or DC for that matter) again.
Who do you think the actress could play in the MCU?
