6 Wild JUSTICE LEAGUE Story Predictions You Can Take To The Bank

Regardless of your thoughts on the DC Films Universe, there's no denying Justice League is one of 2017's most exciting releases. How will it play out? We look at the evidence to make some suggestions!

2016 was not a good year for Warner Bros. While neither Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice nor Suicide Squad were flops, the former certainly didn't live up to expectations and the critical response to both obviously left a lot to be desired. As a result, all eyes are on Wonder Woman and Justice League to deliver, but it's arguably the latter release which will ultimately make or break the DC Films Universe.

We'll just have to wait and see, but regardless of what happens on Rotten Tomatoes and at the box office, we have a long list of reasons to be excited about Justice League this coming November.

However, at this stage, there's also a lot we don't know about the movie! There are obviously lots of rumours and fan theories out there, and what you'll find here are my thoughts on at least six things we can expect to see happen in this highly anticipated release. With some, there's evidence that these could happen, and while others are pretty outlandish suggestions, I think you'll still enjoy them!

6. Superman Will Be Evil...For A Little While At Least

Despite the fact that the Justice League screenplay has obviously undergone some changes since the release of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, something you have to believe will be touched on in some way is The Flash's ominous message from the future. One of the most confusing moments in that divisive release, Zack Snyder has promised that it will be addressed, and I have a theory about how it's all going to play out.

While Batman v Superman's final scene teased the Man of Steel's return, I think it will be Steppenwolf and Darkseid's forces (and possibly even Lex Luthor) who bring him back in a nod of sorts to Bizarro so he can be used as a weapon against the League. That's why the time travelling Scarlet Speedster said Lois Lane is the key; she'll be the only one who can help him get back to his old self. Plus, if seeing Batman fighting Superman was cool, there's no way Snyder will be able to resist pitting the likes of Wonder Woman and Aquaman against him for at least a scene or two here.

There are conflicting reports about Deathstroke's role in Justice League, but storyboards have been spotted which do seem to indicate that he'll be crossing paths with Lex Luthor here (something which could very well explain why the Dark Knight ends up looking to take him down in his planned solo outing).

Someone like Steppenwolf hiring the assassin to break Lex out of Arkham Asylum wouldn't make much sense, but it's easy to imagine that the villain has a plan to ensure he's not incarcerated for long and that he too can get in on the race to track down those Mother Boxes, one of which he could very well use to control the resurrected Superman. Unlike The Joker or Two-Face, Deathstroke isn't an iconic Batman villain, so having him get a really cool sequence here as he blasts his way through Arkham would be a great way to introduce him in the DC Films Universe, even if that's all he does for the entire movie!

The original plan was for Justice League to be a two-part movie, but that changed following the critical and commercial response to Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. While there's a very good chance that the sequel will happen and that Darkseid will appear there in a leading role, it's fair to say that most of us were still surprised to learn that Steppenwolf is going to be Justice League's big bad. Despite that, don't be surprised to see Darkseid show up in some form here.

Looking at some of the rumours and even the trailer, I'm betting that we'll witness the villain's defeat at the hands of man, Amazons, and Atlanteans in the first act, with him possibly making a cameo appearance at the end of the movie to tease a full scale attack on Earth after Steppenwolf's failure to get those Mother Boxes for him. There are obviously other ways he could show up and the whole Steppenwolf thing might be misdirection, but don't be surprised to see Darkseid in some form here.

3. ...But Don't Expect Green Lantern

A very long time ago, we heard rumours about Green Lantern crashing to Earth at the end of the first Justice League movie to warn the team about the impending arrival of Darkseid. On paper, it sounds pretty cool, but while Hal Jordan - or John Stewart - deserves to be part of the League, all the signs are pointing to Warner Bros. keeping the character on the shelf until the release of Green Lantern Corps in 2020.

That makes sense considering the fact that they're no doubt hoping moviegoers will forget all about the 2011 version by the time that rolls around, and while it would be good to see Hal get a reintroduction of sorts here, I just don't see it happening. Don't get me wrong, there are a lot of way it could be done in a really cool fashion, but beyond one of Justice League's cosmic characters mentioning the Corps, I don't expect these characters to factor into this movie in any way, shape, or form. Shame!

2. Lois Lane Will Be A Pivotal Part Of The Story

I mentioned at the start of this feature that I think Lois Lane will end up playing a key role in Superman's resurrection, and regardless of whether or not that comes to pass, the character is clearly going to be a big part of Justice League. That's evident from both The Flash's warning and that strange wasteland set sequence featuring the Man of Steel talking about her death.

It's possible that Batman deciding against killing Superman (perhaps Lois would have dived in front of the spear and sacrificed herself for him?) has changed history already, but I have a feeling that all these confusing loose ends will be tied together here and that Lois will be at the centre of it all. It's definitely possible that The Daily Planet journalist will end up making just a small appearance along the lines of Comissioner Gordon, but I think it's far more likely that we can expect to see Lois as a huge part of how this adventure pans out, particularly in regards to Superman's story arc.

1. No One Is Going To Die

Following reviews claiming that Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice wasn't "fun" enough, Warner Bros. scrambled to change Suicide Squad's tone with very poor results. Now, it's hoped that Justice League will find a happy medium of sorts, and for that reason alone, we can forget about any major character deaths. For starters, each member of the team has a solo movie on the way, but even supporting players like Alfred, Commissioner Gordon, and Iris West are far too important to the future of the DC Films Universe to be dispatched of.

The studio also wants to avoid any accusations of the movie being too dark, and with such backlash against the decision to show heroes like Batman and Superman killing their enemies, I wouldn't be remotely shocked if even Steppenwolf is taken down with non-lethal means. Of course, an argument can be made that that's how it's supposed to be, but hopefully the attempts to lighten things up won't mean that it doesn't feel like there are any stakes here. Plus, it's kind of hard to top killing Superman!

@MagnusShadowX - Not to be funny but I seriously think the moment the critics sees Snyder's name they autmatically give it a below 5 score. Anything over that once they watch the movie will be a bonus.

He's really not as bad as people make him out to be. I like his work. He has heart.
