During Diana's retelling of Steppenwolf's first attack in Justice League, we get brief glimpses of some of the Old Gods that joined the battle to help vanquish the villain, and now thanks to some photos from the upcoming Justice League: The Art of the Film book, we have a better look at three of the ancient Greek deities and the incredibly buff actors that brought them to life.

JUSTICE LEAGUE: Awesome New Concept Art Provides An Insight Into The Movie's Production Design

Zeus was played by fitness model Sergi Constance, while Artemis was portrayed by personal trainer Aurore Lauzeral. In the movie, Wonder Woman actor David Thewlis' face was superimposed over the stand-in who played Ares, but we don't have a name for him at the moment.

In addition to the BTS image, Twitter user LiveLoveLupe has also shared some pretty awesome new concept art of Ares and Zeus.

Justice League is now in theaters.

So, you have the blood of the old gods in you. Old gods died.

Fist of all, I'm getting tired of people calling an extended version "the Snyder cut". Zack, sadly, left the movie half finishied so his movie would be a complete incoherent mess. Secondly, why does Ares not have a british moustache?

@Bokis - His would be a better film, if he had time to finish it. But, even though he didn't, the studio did the film no favors by cutting as much as they did. If they had just kept all, or most of his scenes in it, the film would have been a more coherent narrative and would have had that balance that Wonder Woman had.

@SisterSunday52 - The more that comes to light about what his version would have involved, it certainly seems it would have been the better film (at the very least more in line with Man Of Steel & BvS) and more structurally sound. Whether people accepted it as a good movie is a different story, but from where I am standing I can’t see it possibly being a bad movie. Batman v Superman was not anywhere near a bad movie - sue me for enjoying it if you must.

@SisterSunday52 - Oh, yeah, I agree with that! I don't want my DC movies to feel like discount Marvel movies. I really didn't like BvS but one of the things I liked was the darker, more realistic tone and my favorite part of JL was probably the Zack Snydery opening montage. For once I'm actually in favor of an extended cut where they add back all the deleted scenes. Just to see the movie flow better

@MosquitoFarmer - Fair enough. I didn't like BvS but there are some great ideas and scenes in that movie. Mostly revolving around the darker take on Batman. I would like to see everything that was cut from JL on home video. Everything felt too rushed in the final film

Snyder really likes himself half naked men on roids

@AsgardianHobo -

I think he really likes displaying the human form, which I can appreciate.
Those Amazons in JL whipping around those huge sledge hammers and hold up falling trap doors were beast as all f.uck.

Killing the Greek gods off so early was a big mistake. They're the most interesting part of the WW comics.

@TheDayman - One of the classic WW story arcs is when she has to journey to Hades to save them all. They might be planning something similar in the sequel.

@ForDarkseid - In the comics, her reward for reviving the gods was that Steve Trevor was returned from the dead. When Chris Pine returns is maybe when the gods do too.

@rabid - that sounds interesting and would fit the rumor that WB is going Wonder Woman centric.
