A lot of fans place a great deal of importance on Rotten Tomatoes scores and while many argue that they don't really mean anything, the fact is that moviegoers are influenced by it and often choose whether or not to see a film as a result. Well, the company is clearly aware of how controversial their scores can be when it comes to DC Comics adaptations and they've now upset an awful lot of people!

As you can see below, Rotten Tomatoes is heading down an unprecedented route by revealing the score for Justice League on one of their Facebook videos. Whether or not this means a score won't be generated on the site until then isn't clear but it's a strange move bound to generate controversy.

On the one hand, it's a clever way to increase interest in this online show but they must have known that focusing on Justice League's score like this would rile a lot of sensitive fans, especially when there was so much discussion around the numbers generated for Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and Suicide Squad. So, where will this movie end up? Well, we'll all find out this coming Thursday...

What is the controversy?

@Havenless - Essentially, that they are withholding information they already have to tout their own importance. The suggestion has also been made that they are in bed with studios who might be willing to offer them money to withhold negative information or promote positive information.

They aren't really withholding information. Anyone can come up with the score on their own by looking at all the reviews or check out other aggregate sites. It's their own method of aggregation so nothing wrong with it.

@BackwardGalaxy - Heaven forbid, a commercial company engages in commercial activity for the purpose of making money. The horror.

@Havenless - There is no controversy. A business enterprise that has its own proprietary rating/scoring system is deciding to roll it out at a time of its choosing to maximize fanfare. Move along, folks. Nothing to see here.

@BackwardGalaxy - That bullshit believed only by DC fans. As a matter of fact the site is partially owned by DC so if there was going to be any bias it would be towards their own movies
