Earlier this month, some seemingly innocent comments about the Harley Quinn animated series from Justin Halpern made headlines...for all the wrong reasons.
He revealed that DC stepped in to stop them from showing Batman performing oral sex on Catwoman, not because the Dark Knight is a selfish lover, but because they deemed it inappropriate for one of their top merchandise sellers. That's a little strange when it's clearly a series aimed at an adult audience, and Warner Bros. soon found themselves besieged by social media posts about the scene.
Chances are they weren't too happy with Halpern, but the studio seemingly had a bigger issue with Justice League director Zack Snyder.
Like many people, he responded to the viral news story, and shared a piece of artwork with Batman performing oral sex on Selina Kyle. It was unclear whether this was something he pulled from a comic book (it didn't come from one we could identify), a piece of concept art from the DC Extended Universe, or an image he created personally to share with fans.
Either way, it's now been removed "in response to a report from the copyright holder." We're not entirely sure how Warner Bros. pulled that one off, but the entire situation feels a little like "shots fired" to some fans. The image remains on Vero, and Snyder has already commented on the removal with a screenshot of the Tweet and the caption, "If I Advance."
Needless to say, this is one of the weirder stories we've reported on here in some time...
