While DC Comics is said to have turned down Zack Snyder's pitch for a comic book series set in the same world as Justice League, it appears the publisher is going all in on the "Snyder Cut". 

Some new variant covers have been revealed for the upcoming Justice League #59, including one showing off Superman in his black suit alongside the Flash, and most notably, Harry Lennix's Martian Manhunter! We've caught a glimpse of that character on merchandise, but this piece of artwork offers our best look to date at how he'll appear in the movie when it hits HBO Max next month.

This may be comic book artwork, but it's fair to say that J'onn J'onzz is going to look pretty faithful to his comic counterpart in this version of Justice League! The "Snyder Cut" marks his first live-action appearance in a movie, and while his role is expected to be a small one, fans of the character will likely be pleased.

Lennix was part of Justice League's reshoots, and has previously confirmed that Martian Manhunter will be brought to life with a mixture of motion-capture and visual effects.

Its a look i dont think can look good in live action. Really for live action martian manhunter, id go with


Like really Martian Manhunter wears less clothes than wonder woman.

Id say the same about Namor’s speedo look. Looks cool in a drawing but very unlikely it could work in live action

@dracula - Why? Snyder somehow made the Spartans in 300 look like total badasses and they were pretty much wearing what Martian Manhunter wears.

Wonder Woman and Aquaman don't really look like Gal Gadot and Jason Mamoa here, so I doubt how accurate MM is here

Love me some MM but it’s ludicrous he’s in in this film, let’s hope there’s an explanation for the fact he stood and watched the last 2 times earth has been attacked

@1AboveAll - There won't be an exanation. Snyder just tried to give some half baked explanation for it in an interview about a week ago. He basically stuttered through it saying that even though Earth was being threatened before that this feels like something that he can't just stand by and watch. Which is about the biggest non-answer you can give.

I mean, when Kryptonians were attacking Earth and the planet was actively being terraformed, which would have killed everyone on earth, he didn't feel any inclination to get off his ass and help?

Right.....

Its because Snyder never meant for MM to be in these movies until he saw someone online say that general guy is MM.

@CorndogBurglar - it’s so ridiculous, makes me wonder what other things he’s shoehorning in that we don’t know about? The only way out I could see was to have MM take on the Generals role after he himself died in one of the attacks and that’s just as MM was arriving to earth but it’s huge gymnastics to jump through for a fan theory he thought was cool. It’s all just so shallow

@1AboveAll - That would actually be a good explanation. But I highly doubt they'll go that far into his backstory. I would be surprised if MM does anything at all in this movie outside of a scene or two.

Looks cool. Never really liked the long pointy “Alien” shaped head in the comics or cartoons. But we all know how much Snyder likes to make his characters... edgy.

A good actor for Martian Manhunter, too bad its not in a better movie and too bad the character's history makes no sense in this version.

Martian Manhunter is a character who up until now has been portrayed well in all adaptions.

These would be for the new Bendis JL run, right?

Slightly OT has anyone else heard rumblings of maybe Neal Adams purchasing control of DC Comics from AT&T?

If the rumors are even slightly true, it would be like early last year, when Doomsday Clock #12 changed everything, rebooting DC, then Dan Didio got fired and all his plans went out the window.
Now Death Metal #7 has rebooted everything and both Jim Lee/Marie Javins and all of their plans will also be supplanted.

I actually liked Didio's plans and I'm quite happy with Javin's plans moving forward too, but... well a lot of these rumors are interesting. Sound like a by the people for the people thing.
