Kick-Ass Goes International

Kick-Ass Goes International

Matthew Vaughn's "reality" superhero tale will get a worldwide audience!

Director Matthew Vaughn initially had trouble finding financing for his adaptation of Mark Millar's Kick-Ass comic book, but with friends like Brad Pitt kicking down some dough the film got made.

Then, it was a matter of finding a distributor. Millar even made a plea at the Wizard World Chicago comic convention, requesting that fans blog about how awesome they thought the footage was in the hopes of igniting some interest. That kicked off a three-studio bidding war for the distribution rights, which ultimately went to Lionsgate.

Now, the next chapter in the Kick-Ass movie saga has been written as the "reality" superhero film became part of a multi-territory pact between Lionsgate International and Focus Features International. Following the U.S. release, Universal Pictures International will distribute Kick-Ass in the U.K., Germany, Australia, New Zealand, Austria, Switzerland and Latin America.
