Yes, the stage is truly set for a secret invasion story...by making the villains of that story good guys with no hint of evil ones somewhere.

@Origame - Wow, there's still people saying that.

@KingCipher - thats not a hint of there being evil ones. Just that there are others out there. Can we just have one line in these films where talos or some skrull says "watch out for this tribe" before we say the stage has been set for secret invasion? Because the skrulls have been nothing but allies.

@WakandanQueen - until marvel actually teases the possibilities of evil skrulls, then yeah.

@Jeight8 - ...im not saying i want secret invasion or the skrulls as villains. But secret invasion requires evil skrulls to work, and we have no signs of evil skrulls. Im just saying the stage hasn't been set.

@Origame - I'm guessing if they do Secret Invasion they will flip it somewhat. The Kree will be the evil infiltrators and the Skrulls will be tenuous allies, possibly also infiltrating groups for the sake of counterintelligence.

Origame - 10/17/2019, 7:24 AM
@aRush - that completely eliminates what made the story so interesting. The whole point is that you don't know who's an ally and who isnt

A Young Avengers announcement is on the horizon though. Cassie Lang already exists in the MCU, Wiccan and Speed will be introduced in WandaVision, Kate Bishop in Hawkeye, and I wouldn't be surprised if they introduced Eli Bradley(Patriot) in Falcon & Winter Soldier, or Hulkling in Captain Marvel 2.

"Marvel's First Family has a lot of potential, as do their villains; after all, the likes of Annihilus, Galactus, and Doctor Doom could be game-changers for the MCU."

@GeneralZod - Annihilus is one of the most boring villains of all time. Keep his green bug ass away from the MCU>

A few questions for those of you that have been balls deep in comic books their entire life...

I grew up reading comic books like the most of you. But I grew apart from them as I got older. I stayed in touch with most storylines and events from a high level but didn't get into each issue like I had when I was younger. So, I get the gist of story arcs like Secret Wars, Secret Invasion, Dark Reign, Fear Itself, etc. But I recently had to look up all this to catch up to speed. It was a lot of info to consume at once. And it seemed like some storylines were obscure or not well received--probably not worth adapting.

With that said, here are my questions:

1. Since the MCU started with Infinity War, what storylines can be adapted next in a compelling way?

2. What storylines probably aren't worth adapting and can they be omitted or absorbed into a bigger story? (Maybe like Planet Hulk in Thor: Ragnarok?)

3. Do the Civil War and Age of Ultron movies suffice for their comic book counterpart storylines?

4. Can some of the story arcs from the comics be adapted in a different order than how they're adapted for the movies? I.e. Now that we have F4 and X-Men how can Marvel Studios best adapt older storylines we may otherwise have missed? (Was Civil War / AoU out of order?)

5. Who's putting coffee grounds in the disposal?

Thanks in advance!

@Tonic24k - IN a compelling way i think a story like Secret Invasion can work with tinkering. Also Secret Wars although the premise is kinda thin. It's just an excuse for heroes to fight each other for Beyonder's amusement. So beyonder's motive needs to change.

The most natural one financially and creativel is Avengers vs X-men. It didn't work in comics but neither did Civil War really but the MCU made it work.

As long as neither Avengers or X-men are portrayed as truly black and white, then we are good.

Movie Civil War and AOU are very different than their comic arcs. AOU has nothing in common apart from Ultron. The comic event is a time travel story involving Wolverine. The movie CW takes the general premise of hero registration and accountability and puts it in the MCU context. The comic story is bigger in scale but is plagued by out of character decisions and poor characterisation. It's not awful, but it's divisive. Tony especially was heavily damaged by this event. It took the movie to rejuvenate his character.
