Marvel Studios has tapped Liza Singer, a director and storyboard artist who's worked on shows like Harley Quinn and Disenchantment, to helm a mystery television series set in the MCU.

With its various Disney+ shows, Black Widow and Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings finally out, Marvel Studios is gearing up for its next slate of adventures. The studio is currently working on a myriad of projects. Some of them, we know abou, others, as it's customary for the studio, are being kept under a thick veil of secrecy.

Even though we are not privy to all the MCU films and TV series in development, we do now know who will be at the helm of one of those projects.

Liza Singer, a director and storyboard artist who's worked on shows like Harley Quinn, DC Superhero Girls and Netflix's Disenchantment, announced on Twitter that they've been tapped to direct a mystery Marvel Studios adventure:

While Singer didn't specify whether they would be directing a TV show or a film, their website lists the project as a "new NDA series." We know Season 2 of What If...? is currently in development, which likely means that Singer's series will be a new property. It's also unclear whether the show will be live-action or animated, though it's not unreasonable to assume it will be the latter given the director's work experience.

It's also interesting to note that this isn't Singer's first experience with the Marvel Universe. According to their website, they also worked as an intern for the House of Ideas, assisting in the "retouching and ditribution of comic-page art and story bibles."

If the director's project is indeed animated, it shows Marvel Studios' commitment to animation, which Victoria Alonso discussed when it was announced she had been promoted to president of animation, physical and post production, and visual effects at the company:

“We have an absolutely incredible group of people who are bringing their many talents to the exciting slate of films and series we have on the horizon, and I’m especially thrilled about ramping up our studio’s animation efforts, which is a personal passion of mine."

Marvel Studios has a great track record when it comes to hiring relative newcomers to helm its projects, so we can't wait to see what Liza Singer will bring to the ever-growing MCU.

I know her realm is usually animation, but all of the X talk today makes me long for those characters to be served up as an episodic streaming show. Is it her cup of tea? Probably not but I would have never guessed the guys that gave us Community and You, me and Dupree would be fit for what they gave us.

With so many characters and so much ground to cover, that would be my preference. The pesky budget and profits would most likely put the kibosh on it though. A guess a man can dream.

I can imagine an animated series starring Elsa Bloodstone.

Elsa discovers that her father is a monster-hunting adventurer. She inherits the Bloodstone manor and Frankenstein is her best friend. That can be fun.

And Marvel hires another yes man for another project well yes woman this time, someone with barely any experience with anything who hasn't dome anything of note besides from what I can see 1 episode on an animated show. They did this same thing with Loki and that show was freaking garbage.

@John456 - Loki was my favourite Marvel Studios show by far. So please, do give me more garbage like that then. Plus you do realise that they have used this same strategy for their movies right? Do you also think they are "freaking garbage"?

@Urubrodi - honestly most of the majority of their movies yes I do. The best Marvel stuff that I've loved has been their television shows on Netflix, Hulu ect.. And their movies outside of Disney/Marvel not under Feiges controls.

@John456 - Were a good 30 properties (and 13 years!) into this Marvel Studios experiment. Doesn't make a lot of sense to still be watching if you feel they're "freaking garbage."
