Take a look at the designs we've come up with, and let us know which one should be the new face of ComicBookMovie.com!

Feature Opinion

We've been slaving over the last couple months to come up with a new, upgraded design for the site, and frankly, we're a bit burned out and need "new eyes" to help us. So, here are three different "looks" that we want to get community feedback on. There are some things to keep in mind when judging:

1) The main thing we are looking for your input on at this stage is what works VISUALLY--mainly the color schemes, and what "jumps out" at you as being good, bad or ugly. Don't worry about site FEATURES in this round. If you have a suggestion for different colors, tell us (or show us) in the comments.

2) You'll notice the designs have different logos. Try to keep the logos separate from the design in your mind, we can always change logos out to whichever design is the most popular. And let us know if you like one thing in one design and another thing in another.

3) Be brutally honest. Tell us what you DON'T like about design/logo/colors. And you can also tell us what you DO like too.

4) If you have a suggestion, please sound off.

With that in mind, here are the three designs. Click on the thumbnail to view a larger version, and don't forget to participate in the poll so that we know which one you like the best!

I'm liking the "Comics" tab. That will make a lot of people happy.

Also, on the Red, White & Blue theme, I wonder how well the red lettering will show up on the featured stories when it's put up against a different/busier image. Een against that Avengers image, which really isn't that dark it's a bit hard on the eyes.

We might change that headline to white and/or darken the transparent shadow behind it.--Jim

My choice was immediately between the "Retro" and the "Red White & Blue." I'm not fond of the "Simple" version at all.

Between the two, I'd have to say the "Retro" looks like the most professional choice. While I like the "Red White & Blue," it seems to me that most of the more "serious" news sites in any field, keep the colors on their pages to a minimum.

I would also have to say "ditto" to everything ecks just said.

Great stuff!

I like your design sense!--Jim

In my opinion, the "Simple" one is the worst, it needs the mascot. The "Red, White, and Blue" one is the best, the colors, and mascot look really cool. The "Comics" tab is something a lot would like, myself included.

We should get a Godzilla feature, the monster of Japan needs to be more noticed on the site.

Looking forward to the revamp.

Either Retro or Red/White/Blue is fine with me.

I agree with everything both Blueyes and Ecks said.

And the I like the newer mascot the better.

I curious about the "community", "members area", and "news group" though.

Red, white and blue. Love that logo of the shirt rip. And yes, please bring back the edit button. And I like the superhero emblems in that location with the black background as well.

any of the 3 look fine to me, i am just glad u guys are changing, a little tired of shifting through articles about the most mundane things such as who is gonna buy this dvd/blu-ray, any of the thousands of snipits on what tom hiddleston talked about in the grocery store, etc., i much perfer to just find out about the upcoming cbms, thanks for the change, looking forward to them:)

red white and blues design looks cool. Simple design looks more professional, IMHO

keep the dates on the left side of screen with the upcoming cbms, maybe have a way to click on those to bring up some of the relevant articles of the approaching movies to better index those articles about movies u wanna find out about, thanks:)

The calendar will be rotating through that "spotlight" feature on the right side.

No like/dislike option for comments. Then everyone will try and be funny to get the most likes. And you'll get the annoying thumbs up if .... comments.

I like the logo for the red white and blue option. Thats my choice.

Retro or Red,White and Blue

bring back the EDIT button for crying out loud.

Galactus Insert: I know there are LOTS of users that LOVED the edit button, but may I ask for some explanation WHY you liked it so much? Sure it was a nice luxury to have when you made a spelling error, but why is it NECESSARY. Please explain. Can't you all just take the time to spell right the first time? The only REASON I can guess is that many of you are using your thumbs to type from your phones. Is THAT the only reason?

Red white and blue.

I like the design of Retro and Red White and Blue the best, but I think I'm gonna go with Red White and Blue. Its about time this site got updated. This interface is extremely outdated.

I completely agree with what ecks said and what your idea in response to that was, Big G. I think white lettering would totally work up there and will give the page an overall even look too

Any plans for a mobile version? The redesigns seem alot more handset friendly than the site at the moment but will there be any dedicated site just for cellphones/tablets?

Galactus insert: The new version is meant to be mobile friendly, but yes, we are working on stuff like apps as well.
jazzman
jazzman - 10/29/2011, 12:39 PM
@Galactus

the reason why we want the edit button cause we all have posted wrong comments or pics. we need a chance to delete them instead of reposting the comment/pic over again and wasting space on this site.

Destroyer14 - 10/29/2011, 12:40 PM
@Intruder That's why it's always best to double-check each comment before posting.

i like retro, but all of them are great. the red white and blue is cool, but people from other country's are gonna be like, du [frick]? hahahahah they are all good though.
bhorwith22
bhorwith22 - 10/29/2011, 12:44 PM
I also think Red White and Blue looks the most professional too. Solid colors are the best.

I agree with most of the stuff Intruder said. I think an edit button should be added, and there should be like and dislike buttons. In fact, the commenting system should be more streamlined and modernized in general.

As for the Hall of Shame, I just found out what it was recently. When I first visited this site (before I made an account,) I thought that those badges were good, so the badges should be reworked so they actually have a negative connotation.
I also think a "Hall of Fame" should be added to encourage good-quality posts in addition to discouraging poor-quality posts.
This could also tie in to the like and dislike buttons somehow.

Galactus insert: Just look in the "fanboy spotlight" area. Where the Hall of Fame AND Hall of Shame have links.

I prefer Retro and RW&B. I'd say retro because it looks more....professional.

So imagine this:
The Avengers trailer, it has 10 dislikes or so, ok? Now in the comment section there are 30+ comments in the same format

10 people must not be a billionare, playboy, philanthropist.

Just to get likes! It's so [frick]ing annoying. No like/dislike option.

Give us an App!

Oh and the Red, White, and Blue is perfect :)

I love the red white and blue (not to sound too patriotic) but it has the best look. I cannot wait for the mobile friendly version or the app. My question is would both the mobile version and app support videos? There's nothing more annoying than using a mobile version and reading 'please visit full site to view media'

All in all, I can't waiting for the redesign!

Red, White and Blue baby!

While I would like the edit button back, if excluding it helps the site run faster I can live without it.

Oh and I'm all for taking away the thumbs up and down feature. Far too many Avenger articles get thumbs down by the 10's-20'scat for no apparent reason.
