Cobie Smulders Comments On 'Maria Hill' Possibly Returning In CIVIL WAR Or INFINITY WAR

Considering she and and Samuel L. Jackson were notably absent on the cast list for Captain America: Civil War, Cobie Smulders has been asked whether or not her former S.H.I.E.L.D. agent will appear in the movie as well as in Avengers: Infinity War. Check out her response!

When Cobie Smulders sat down with The Daily Beast to promote her new indie film Unexpected, the actress also discussed her role as Maria Hill in the ever-growing Marvel Cinematic Universe. "It’s very secretive," she said when asked about having a sense of job security with Marvel Studios. "They like to keep the surprises for the audience so they don’t reveal a lot of information—even to the inner circle. But it is nice! It’s very cool to be a part of the world, and a part of this ongoing story that’s happening. Normally, you walk into a movie, have a script, and then you’re done with it, or at the most you’ll do a sequel—maybe. But with the Marvel world, they’re doing television, they have merchandise like crazy, and Lego video games. It’s cool to be a part of all of it."

Cobie Smulders was then asked if Maria Hill will return in Captain America: Civil War and the two-part Avengers: Infinity War, even though she (and Samuel L. Jackson) were surprisingly excluded on the cast list for the 2016 "Phase Three" movie. "That’s really sweet that you asked me, but I can’t talk about that; I’ll get in trouble!" she replied. We last saw the former S.H.I.E.L.D. agent working at the new Avengers facility in Avengers: Age of Ultron, so she will probably make an appearance in Captain America: Civil War (team Iron Man?) before the Infinity War movies. What do you think?

Directed by Anthony & Joe Russo from a screenplay by Christopher Markus & Stephen McFeely, Captain America: Civil War picks up where Avengers: Age of Ultron left off, as Steve Rogers (Chris Evans) leads the new team of Avengers in their continued efforts to safeguard humanity. After another international incident involving the Avengers results in collateral damage, political pressure mounts to install a system of accountability and a governing body to determine when to enlist the services of the team. The new status quo fractures the Avengers while they try to protect the world from a new and nefarious villain. Starring Chris Evans, Robert Downey Jr., Scarlett Johansson, Sebastian Stan, Anthony Mackie, Paul Bettany, Jeremy Renner, Don Cheadle, Elizabeth Olsen, Paul Rudd, Chadwick Boseman, Emily VanCamp, Daniel Brühl, Frank Grillo, William Hurt, and Martin Freeman, Captain America: Civil War is set for release on May 6, 2016.
