dracula - 8/7/2019, 2:17 AM
@DnA - Yeah, seriously its first 2 films were a kid taking on robbers, they are well liked, but seriously how much more can you do with that. They tried something different with Home Alone 3 and it was crap

@dracula - I mean, I for one am looking forward to the HACU. Where it leads to an eventual team up with The Goonies and Stranger Things.

@dracula - Aren't they up to Home Alone 5 now? I think I saw a 5 movie collection set at WalMart.

Maybe this time an adult Kevin can try to break into his childhood home to retrieve something he left there 20 years ago and.....Nah, I can't even be bothered to finish the thought.

Planet Of The Apes makes sense, it is a proven franchise.
Wait for Avatar 2 to come out before you commit to anything, it's been 10 years and the biggest thing in the original was the effects, and that hype has obviously died down.

@dracula

Everyone underestimating James Cameron these days
LongMayHeReign

@dracula - No matter how long it's been Avatar films are guaranteed billion dollar earners, especially with those sweet December release dates.
dragon316
dragon316 - 8/7/2019, 6:41 AM
@regularmovieguy - comic book movies was in same place at that time
regularmovieguy
regularmovieguy - 8/7/2019, 6:46 AM
@dragon316

Not really. TDK made a billion a year prior to Avatar and Iron Man made a lot of money as well.
dragon316
dragon316 - 8/7/2019, 6:47 AM
@LongMayHeReign - you do realize first avatar movie made billion easy with imax and 3D ticket sales right? If it was not for those two things it be close to billion but not there avatar has been done before in different movies rain Forrest animated movie humans cutting down trees fairy’s had find new home and defeat evil smog monster, aliens, terminator, titan ae, space kid .,all those movies are similar to avatar but avatar is more colorful beautiful look at with over sized boy elf’s with tails
regularmovieguy
regularmovieguy - 8/7/2019, 7:25 AM
@dragon316

Do you realize how many more IMAXs, Dolby Cinema, CinemarkXD’s exist now than in 2009?

Bro, no one’s saying Avatar is Shakespeare. But you also don’t have to downgrade it’s success in 2009. The movie was so huge it took 10 years for a movie to compete with it.

The movie was a technical marvel and looks better than a lot of movies today.
LongMayHeReign

@dragon316 - Was this meant for me because it makes no sense in respond to my comment?
dracula
dracula - 8/7/2019, 10:10 AM
@LongMayHeReign - we will see about that
dracula
dracula - 8/7/2019, 7:09 PM
@regularmovieguy - personally think he is overrated, he has good ideas, but really outside of Terminator, T2 and Alien, I don't see the big deal
dracula
dracula - 8/7/2019, 7:16 PM
@LongMayHeReign - Look at any big movie that didn't get a sequel for a very long time, rarely ends well
Sin City A Dame To Kill For: 9 years
Escape From LA: 15 years
Dumb And Dumber to: 20 years
Wall Street Money Never Sleeps: 23 years
Tron Legacy: 28 years
and others
All the ones I listed had the original stars, and outside of Tron had the original director, and they range from okay to crap and they failed. Even if it isn't the second movie, a long wait can kill sequels, Godfather 3, Indiana Jones 4 and others
LongMayHeReign
LongMayHeReign - 8/7/2019, 8:56 PM
@dracula - How many of those movies followed a billion dollar film let alone the second highest grossing film in history? Also how many of those sequels opened in December the best time of the year to have long legs?

Avatar 2 compared to all those films is absolutely not equal. Avatar 2 will have the full power of the Disney marketing machine behind it, that alone will get it over the hump. We already saw how Aladdin got a billi in the middle of summer after the entire internet bitched and moaned about how wack trash garbage the genie looked.

You still think Avatar 2 isn't locked for a billion? LMAO good luck with that!

Disney buying Fox is objectively terrible
