BLACK MIRROR Season 5 Premiere Date Reportedly Leaked In Now-Deleted Netflix Tweet BLACK MIRROR Season 5 Premiere Date Reportedly Leaked In Now-Deleted Netflix Tweet

A now-removed tweet from an officially verified Netflix account on Twitter seemingly revealed a December 28 premiere date for Black Mirror Season 5, along with an intriguing potential episode title.

Get ready to return to the twisted, high-tech near-future of Black Mirror as the acclaimed sci-fi anthology series could return to Netflix for its fifth season later this month.

The verified Netflix Twitter account, NXOnNetflix, seemingly jumped the gun earlier today by posting an image of what's coming to the streaming service in December. All the way at the bottom is Black Mirror on December 28. The tweet has since been deleted but nothing on the internet is ever truly gone.

As multiple sites have pointed out, the Friday, December 28 premiere date lines up with last year's Season 4, which also released on the last Friday of the month (December 29, 2017).

Specifically, the Netflix release schedule listed Black Mirror: Bandersnatch, which is presumably what the first episode will be titled. This could be interpreted multiple ways as a bandersnatch is a fictional creature in Lewis Carrol's Through the Looking-Glass. As TV Guide points out, however, Bandersnatch "may relate to an old 1984 game about a group of computer nerds locked away together to try and create the ultimate Commodore 64 and 48k Spectrum game."

Given the context of Black Mirror, and how the show deals with technology, I'm going to assume it has more to do with the latter reference. Interestingly, as fans of the show have pointed out, the game was also referenced during the Black Mirror Season 3 episode "Playtest."

It's worth noting that the original tweet with the December premiere date has been deleted and Netflix has not officially announced anything as of yet. Black Mirror was renewed for a fifth season back in March of this year with an intriguing teaser that promised: "The future will be brighter than ever."

LOVE Black Mirror and can't wait for it to return. If true that's way earlier than I expected.

as much as I looooooove Black Mirror, I wonder if getting another Netflix season so quickly means us Charlie Brooker fans won't get one of his always epic special "Year End Wipes", where he does an overview on the news of the world thru his special funky self. I remember they'd said well before Christmas last year that the BM s4 was the main reason there wasn't a new wipe, he simply didn't have time.

If you're not already familiar, go to youtube and put in Weekly Wipe (and a year, say, like 2015, for instance)

Pretty much the only reason to have Netflix now. The modern age Twilight Zone. A masterpiece of a show.

This show is awesome. Can't wait for season 5.

If you're looking for something to fill the gap between Black Mirror seasons, you should check out Room 104 on HBO. Similar premise, except every episode takes place in the same hotel room, but none of the stories are connected. It's a really cool show.
