They’ve cut together the opening sequence of the movie and it’s frightening as hell! The flick opens with a community of friendly chimpanzees, led by devoted duo Alpha and Bright Eyes, running for their lives when a dozen poachers on horseback approach their community, looking for pelt and subjects. The apes are terrified – lots of screaming! – as the poachers attack, net and take down the poor things. Babies are captured. Guns come out. Shots are fired. Bright Eyes loses her mate. It’s a sad, sad massacre. Fade in on Franco’s character doing an experiment on the newly-captured chimp – now alone, scared and without her friend. I have to say, this is going to be a rather unnerving, disturbing but fabulous opening sequence – definitely not one for the faint-hearted. If you’re anything like me, you likely cringe at sequences involving animals being hurt or killed, this one’s sure to impress but also distress."
