DOCTOR WHO: Jodie Whittaker Graces The Cover Of EW's Comic-Con Issue As The 13th Doctor

The cast and crew for Season 11 of Doctor Who are set to have a big presence at SDCC, and a new look at Jodie Whittaker as the 13th Doctor has been revealed in anticipation of their Comic-Con presentation.

Aside from her brief appearance at the end of the recent Doctor Who Christmas Special, we’ve seen little of Jodie Whittaker as the 13th Doctor. But ahead of the show’s big presentation at SDCC later this month, Entertainment Weekly has revealed their Comic-Con cover which puts the spotlight on the series' newest star.

Along with a new look at the latest incarnation of the famous Time Lord, EW also managed to get some comments from Whittaker and showrunner Chris Chibnall about the pressure that comes with giving viewers the first female Doctor.

“There’s no rules, and it’s liberating. But it’s equally terrifying,” Whittaker said, well aware of the signficance of her role.

Meanwhile, Chibnall explained why he believed the time was right for Doctor Who to become an example and finally cast a female lead:

“I just felt the time was right. I think if the show hadn’t done it, we would have been behind the world, and Doctor Who has got to be out front leading the world, and being a great example of all the amazing things that are in the world. So, it wasn’t even a question in my mind.”
