AVENGERS: ENDGAME Star Josh Brolin Teases Training For His Role In Denis Villeneuve's DUNE

With Avengers: Endgame due out in theaters next month, star Josh Brolin is full-steam ahead on his next project. He'll be playing Gurney Halleck in Denis Villeneuve's adaptation of Dune. Check it out...

Last month, it was revealed that Josh Brolin (Avengers: Endgame, Deadpool) had joined the star-studded cast of Denis Villeneuve's upcoming adaptation of Frank Herbert's Dune.

Production on Dune commenced last week and Brolin is using his Instagram to share his preparation for the fan-favorite role of  Gurney Halleck, a troubadour-swordsman that trains the young Paul Atreides (Timothee Chalamet).

Brolin posted a photo of himself and captioned it with a quote from Herbert.

With production officially underway on the highly anticipated movie, we can expect to see more (presumably studio-sanctioned) Dune updates from Brolin, who is pretty open about sharing behind-the-scenes shots from his films.

Along with the news that filming is underway, Warner Bros. Pictures and Legendary Entertainment also released the first synopsis for Dune, which seems to follow the basic premise of the novel.

A mythic and emotionally charged hero’s journey, “Dune” tells the story of Paul Atreides, a brilliant and gifted young man born into a great destiny beyond his understanding, who must travel to the most dangerous planet in the universe to ensure the future of his family and his people. As malevolent forces explode into conflict over the planet’s exclusive supply of the most precious resource in existence—a commodity capable of unlocking humanity’s greatest potential—only those who can conquer their fear will survive.

Dune's cast also includes stars Timothee Chalamet as Paul AtreidesJavier Bardem as Stilgar Zendaya as Chani,  Oscar Isaac as Duke Leto Atreides, Rebecca Ferguson as Lady Jessica, Stellan Skarsgard as Baron Harkonnen, Dave Bautista as "The Beast" Rabban and Charlotte Rampling as the Reverend Mother.

Dune is scheduled to release in theaters on November 20, 2020. In the meantime, you can catch Brolin on the big screen next month as Thanos, the big baddie in Marvel's Avengers: Endgame.
