Regardless of whether you're a fan of the Stephen King novels, The Dark Tower is definitely looking like a movie which will be well worth your time this August. After a handful of teasers and posters yesterday, Sony Pictures has finally released the full thing (a lot earlier than expected) and it's packed full of amazing visuals and some really cool action shots as Idris Elba's Gunslinger races into action.

It's clear that this movie won't be a direct adaptation of the books, but a lot of the key elements are there. Of course, for fans of those, it's already been confirmed that this is a sequel of sorts, so it doesn't really matter that things have been altered and shaken up a little for regular moviegoers.

It's looking good, anyway, and this trailer debut is hopefully a sign that Sony will start pushing The Dark Tower hard over the next few months. Should it succeed at the box office, we'll be getting a fair few sequels and even a television series, but that all boils down to whether or not there's interest!

What do you guys think of this first trailer for The Dark Tower? Let us know that in the usual place.

There are other worlds than these. Stephen King’s The Dark Tower, the ambitious and expansive story from one of the world’s most celebrated authors, makes its launch to the big screen. The last Gunslinger, Roland Deschain (Idris Elba), has been locked in an eternal battle with Walter O’Dim, also known as the Man in Black (Matthew McConaughey), determined to prevent him from toppling the Dark Tower, which holds the universe together. With the fate of the worlds at stake, good and evil will collide in the ultimate battle as only Roland can defend the Tower from the Man in Black.
