First Official WAR FOR THE PLANET OF THE APES Stills Feature Caesar And The Villainous Colonel
With a trailer expected at some point today, we have 3 new images from the next Apes movie, which provide our first look at Woody Harrelson as The Colonel, as well as the returning Caesar (Andy Serkis).
USA Today has debuted our first official images from the next film in the rebooted Apes franchise, War For the Planet of the Apes, and revealed some plot details while they're at it. Following the events of the last movie, Caesar (Andy Serkis) finds himself in a "very dark place", as the struggle to protect his people brings him into conflict with a merciless military man known only as The Colonel (Woody Harrelson). Our first glimpse of the character below may have you wondering if his last name is Kurtz!
"The Colonel is willing to go to great lengths to create a world where things can be gentle again,” says returning Dawn director Matt Reeves. “But the journey he takes you on is chilling.”
"He and Caesar ultimately face off, yet there’s also bizarrely a kind of respect and understanding from both sides,” adds Serkis. “It’s understanding the condition of the other person, what they’re having to suffer through and what they’re trying to protect.”
Be sure to chek back later on for that first teaser trailer, and head on over to USA Today for more from Serkis and co.

In ‘War for the Planet of the Apes,’ the third chapter of the critically acclaimed blockbuster franchise, Caesar and his apes are forced into a deadly conflict with an army of humans led by a ruthless Colonel. After the apes suffer unimaginable losses, Caesar wrestles with his darker instincts and begins his own mythic quest to avenge his kind. As the journey finally brings them face to face, Caesar and the Colonel are pitted against each other in an epic battle that will determine the fate of both their species and the future of the planet.
