Owen reunites with Blue

This was one of the first trailer's best moments as we saw Owen Grady (Chris Pratt) reunite with his lifelong raptor friend, Blue, after spending the last four years apart. However, since we don't really know how good a dinosaur's memory is, let's just hope the fan-favorite Velociraptor remembers her human buddy otherwise Owen's about to lose a hand - and probably some of his forearm too.

Owen and Claire play hide-and-seek with an Indoraptor

Unlike its 2015 predecessor, Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom has been described as "half disaster movie, half horror flick," with the second half, which we've hardly seen anything from, really digging deep into the horror elements as Owen, Claire, and company find themselves trapped at an enormous estate with a scary Indoraptor running loose. Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, executive producer Steven Spielberg heaped praise on the film's final act, “It has a wonderfully, deliciously scary third act. J.A. knows how to create terror, but he also knows how to orchestrate it so you’re not brutalized by it, and he has the gift of restraint. But when he needs to open up the throttle, he really knows how.

Meet The Indoraptor

As far as hybrid dinosaur designs go, the Indoraptor seems to be a considerable upgrade over the first film's Indominus Rex and will surely give some of the film's younger fans a few nightmares to take home with them this summer. Director J.A. Bayona teases the film's big twist. "The first half, you have a whole dinosaur movie on the island, so you have what you expect from a Jurassic movie. Then the second half moves to a totally different environment that feels more suspenseful, darker, claustrophobic, and even has this kind of gothic element, which I love.

Dr. Ian Malcolm returns

"Life, uh, finds a way.

Nearly twenty years after his last appearance in The Lost World: Jurassic Park, Dr. Ian Malcolm (Jeff Goldblum) is back in action and it looks like he'll play a key role in helping the U.S. government determine what to do about these prehistoric beasts who are now facing extinction once again. While we still don't know the extent of his involvement, it is a promising development to see one of the original trilogy's stars return for the latest installment - and rumor has it, he may not be the only one

The Carnotaurus says hello to Franklin and Claire

Fun Fact: a pair of Carnotaurs were the primary antagonists in Disney's Dinosaur, which opened back in 2000. And, just like those baddies, this Carnotaurus is about to meet a pretty gruesome end at the jaws of the King, an awe-inspiring scene we've already seen teased in almost all of the early marketing material, including yesterday's theatrical poster.

On another note, the new EW feature does reveal that Owen (Chris Pratt), Claire (Bryce Dallas Howard), and Franklin (Justice Smith) all make it off the island alive, but it looks like their troubles are only just beginning.

Owen, Claire, Franklin, and Zia care for Blue

The new trailer dropped a pretty major plot point as we learned that the people that helped Claire (Bryce Dallas Howard) get the dinosaurs off the doomed island lied to her and are actually intending on selling all of the dinos to the highest bidders. Producer/writer Colin Trevorrow teased, "Whether that’s a sanctuary or not is all part of where the story takes you. The worst instincts of mankind are revealed. The first film was very clearly about corporate greed. This is just about human greed.

Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard with the Indoraptor

While Claire's (Bryce Dallas Howard) relationship with Owen (Chris Pratt) may have fizzled over the past four years, her love for dinosaurs has grown exponentially and she's going to do everything she can, including recruiting her former boyfriend, to save them from a second extinction. Howard says, “Basically, her sense of purpose now is to ensure that these animals have the same protections as any other endangered species.”

Chris Pratt snaps a selfie with the Indoraptor

The ever-charming Owen (Chris Pratt) will return somewhat reluctantly to the ruins of Jurassic World after Claire (Bryce Dallas Howard) essentially emotionally manipulates him with memories of Blue, who is still very much alive. Pratt elaborates, “She appeals to my better self when she brings up Blue because she’s still alive. Claire’s going to try to get the dinosaur out of harm’s way, and I can join her if I want. And, of course, I do. Spoiler alert: We go back. I’m in the movie!”

This will be the second time in Jurassic history that the dinosaurs have left the island, but based on the new trailer, it looks like it's going to be a considerably different experience this time around with so many different prehistoric monsters, including the Mosasaurus, invading the human world. “At the end of the day, we’re all trying to make something that will be part of the Jurassic empire and tonally match the previous movies, but we’re going off in a new direction.,” teases Pratt.

Chris Pratt

Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom is expected to be the biggest Jurassic movie to date and in addition to significantly raising the dinosaur count, the movie has also "upped the stunt game." All of the actors, including leads Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard, were thrust into their most physically demanding performances yet as they ran, swam and screamed all across the United Kingdom and Hawaii for months during production.

Chris Pratt in the jaws of the Indoraptor

Following Jurassic World will be a tough act, especially commercially since that film is currently the fourth-highest grossing film of all-time, but this one does look to be a considerable step-up from the standard park adventure we've become so accustomed to. As for whether or not audiences are ready, Chris Pratt jokes, "I feel like anxiety is a burden of the hyper-intelligent. It's someone else's job to worry about that. I just show up, stand on the X, say the lines, and give them all three of my scared faces.".

New Behind-the-Scenes Featurette

Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard take you behind-the-scenes of their Entertainment Weekly cover shoot and tease the upcoming sequel. We also get a few never-before-seen snippets of footage and intriguing new details about the battle between man and beast.

The Hulk

Chris Pratt and the Indoraptor share a drink on the Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom-inspired cover for this year's Entertainment Weekly Summer Movie Preview issue. Expect new photos from Deadpool 2, Ant-Man and the Wasp, and Solo: A Star Wars Story to also start surfacing later this week as EW takes us inside the summer's biggest blockbusters.

Stygimoloch Funko Pop!

In addition to the EW cover, Funko has also debuted four new Pops from their upcoming Fallen Kingdom line. The first is a Pop! of the Stygimoloch, which is actually a dinosaur we haven't seen in any of the trailers, but if she's getting a vinyl figure, then we can probably assume she'll play a crucial role at some point or another in the sequel.

Indoraptor Funko Pop!

The Indoraptor's vinyl Pop! figure is far more adorable than her terrifying on-screen counterpart and should make for a cool addition to your collection whenever the movie hits on June 22.

Owen Grady with Baby Blue Funko Pop!

Not only are Owen and Blue getting their own individual vinyl Pop! figures, but the duo are also getting a Target-exclusive figure that will see Owen holding baby Blue in her egg. Their bond remains one of the franchise's biggest strengths, so here's your chance to immortalize it.

Tyrannosaurus Rex Funko Pop! (1)

While the Tyrannosaurus Rex did recently receive a figure in the Jurassic Park line of Pops, this new 10-inch figurine depicts the older and wiser Rexy, who may or may not be sporting some of her battle scars on her back side.

Tyrannosaurus Funko Pop! (2)

Here's another shot of Rexy, this time comparing the 10-inch figures massive size in comparison to the standard Owen Grady Pop! This Pop! will be a Target-exclusive and is expected to become available sometime this summer, so don't miss out!

New International Poster

In case you missed it this morning, here's an awesome new poster with both Owen Grady (Chris Pratt) and Claire Dearing (Bryce Dallas Howard) looking pretty terrified as they stand right smack dab in the center of a dinosaur stampede.

Official Theatrical Poster

The jaw-dropping theatrical poster, featuring Rexy roaring front-and-center. While both posters are nearly identical, there is one obvious difference as we see the U.S. poster on the left championing the new "The Park Is Gone" tagline while the U.K. one-sheet sticks with the classic "Life Finds A Way" tagline.

It’s been four years since theme park and luxury resort Jurassic World was destroyed by dinosaurs out of containment. Isla Nublar now sits abandoned by humans while the surviving dinosaurs fend for themselves in the jungles.

When the island’s dormant volcano begins roaring to life, Owen (Chris Pratt) and Claire (Bryce Dallas Howard) mount a campaign to rescue the remaining dinosaurs from this extinction-level event. Owen is driven to find Blue, his lead raptor who’s still missing in the wild, and Claire has grown a respect for these creatures she now makes her mission. Arriving on the unstable island as lava begins raining down, their expedition uncovers a conspiracy that could return our entire planet to a perilous order not seen since prehistoric times.

With all of the wonder, adventure and thrills synonymous with one of the most popular and successful series in cinema history, this all-new motion-picture event sees the return of favorite characters and dinosaurs—along with new breeds more awe-inspiring and terrifying than ever before.
