Well, it seems as though Universal Pictures is quite bullish about J.A. Bayona's upcoming Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom as - four months ahead of the film's theatrical release - they've just officially announced a sequel, the tentatively titled Jurassic World 3.

Jurassic World 3 will arrive in theaters on June 11, 2021

Details on the cast and crew remain under lock-and-key, but original Jurassic World director Colin Trevorrow will return to pen the script and will be joined by franchise newcomer Emily Carmichael (Pacific Rim Uprising; Powerhouse), who was reportedly hand-selected by executive producer Steven Spielberg (Ready Player One) himself. Speaking on Carmichael's addition, Trevorrow says, “It’s important to this franchise that we welcome new creative voices to keep our storytelling fresh and alive. I’m thrilled with the tension and beauty J.A. has brought to Fallen Kingdom, and I know Emily will add another layer of emotion to the concluding chapter of our trilogy.

Check out the announcement below:

It’s been four years since theme park and luxury resort Jurassic World was destroyed by dinosaurs out of containment. Isla Nublar now sits abandoned by humans while the surviving dinosaurs fend for themselves in the jungles.

When the island’s dormant volcano begins roaring to life, Owen (Chris Pratt) and Claire (Bryce Dallas Howard) mount a campaign to rescue the remaining dinosaurs from this extinction-level event. Owen is driven to find Blue, his lead raptor who’s still missing in the wild, and Claire has grown a respect for these creatures she now makes her mission. Arriving on the unstable island as lava begins raining down, their expedition uncovers a conspiracy that could return our entire planet to a perilous order not seen since prehistoric times.

With all of the wonder, adventure and thrills synonymous with one of the most popular and successful series in cinema history, this all-new motion-picture event sees the return of favorite characters and dinosaurs—along with new breeds more awe-inspiring and terrifying than ever before. @DJRock93 - About to type the same thing. It seems far but the roaring 20's will be here in less than 2 years. That's insane to think about.

@CrazyCipher - Jurassic World is a "sequel trilogy" to the Jurassic Park trilogy. It's stupid I know, but I can't believe that they've been able to get 6 movies out of this franchise all with the same premise; People go to Island with dinosaurs, dinosaurs get loose and chase and eat people.

The first JP is still a great movie but the rest just don't live up to the awe and blockbuster feel of the first.

He'll be free in four months, Warner Bros. Cancel Flashpoint, or change it back to a Flash solo movie, and hire JA Bayona to direct the Man of Steel sequel. Get on it.

@SisterSunday52 - Why do you make everything about dc and cancelling flashpoint. It’s not going to happen, flashpoint will happen.

Oh, and DO NOT take the film away from him. EVERY TIME you take a film away from a director it ends in disaster. Learn your lesson.

@CrazyCipher - Because if the studio reboots the DC Films Cinematic Universe, they will cause even more problems for themselves than whatever ones they solve. The DC Films Cinematic Universe is on life support due to studio interference. The most hated DC Films, even among its biggest fans (Trailer Park's Suicide Squad and Justice League) are products of studio interference. Rebooting the DC Films Cinematic Universe makes the idiots who ruined Snyder's films the sole architects of the new Cinematic Universe, and we know it will be terrible, because we have seen that when the studio had too much control, it's been terrible. Not only that, but with a rebooted Cinematic Universe, you give the audience nothing to attach themselves to. Wonder Woman is gone, because she is too much a part of the current Cinematic Universe, and no one can really get attached to characters that may be rebooted again a year later (because there is no way in Hell they will get them right in the Trailer Park Cinematic Universe). Rebooting the DC Films Cinematic Universe will put them on the road to the gallows for DC in live action and, if it's bad enough, the Comic Book Movie genre as a whole.

@SisterSunday52 - Sure.

I would argue with the exception of Wonder Woman, Nobody is attached to dceu characters.

SisterSunday52 - 2/21/2018, 12:35 PM
@CrazyCipher - I could counter argue that the fact that Batman v Superman made just as much, if not a little more than Wonder Woman, and that there are probably more postings of #releasetheSnyderCut than ticket sales for Justice League, that there is a strong attachment to the characters. The Frankenstein's monster cut of Justice League made less than half of what Batman v Superman did, due to #releasetheSnyderCut. A rebooted DC Cinematic Universe will make SO much less.

@SisterSunday52 - Ah but justice league didint did it, it was a box office dissapointed even after Wonder Woman..
Also hilarious that you think more people would watch it because of snyder.

@SisterSunday52 - Flashpoint isn't going anywhere but get Bayona for Man of Steel 2.
SisterSunday52
SisterSunday52 - 2/21/2018, 1:07 PM
@CrazyCipher - If every #releasetheSnyderCut were a ticket to his film, then yes, more people would have seen Snyder's film and more times than they saw Justice League. Batman v Superman made about the same amount as Justice League did in its starting run, then it started to make more, (after the fan rage had set in) from those who recognized the film about finding hope even in absolute despair as what it was, then it made even more with the Ultimate Edition. Justice League would absolutely have made more money, and more people would have seen it if the studio hadn't fired Zack Snyder.

There's no way you can pay me to sit through Jurassic World: The Great Dino Rescue.

It's like a made for Disney Channel movie.
