Steven Spielberg Confirms Colin Trevorrow Will Return To Helm JURASSIC WORLD 3
Well, it looks like Star Wars: Episode IX won't be the only franchise to bring back its initial director to cap off the latest trilogy as Colin Trevorrow will also be returning to direct Jurassic World 3.
After resurrecting the storied Jurassic Park franchise with a $1.6 billion dollar blockbuster in 2015, Colin Trevorrow is returning to close out his trilogy.
While on the press tour for his latest critically-acclaimed hit, Ready Player One, legendary filmmaker Steven Spielberg confirmed to Entertainment Weekly that in addition to co-writing the sequel's screenplay, Trevorrow will also return to the director's chair. “Colin Trevorrow is going write and direct the third Jurassic World story.” Spielberg will also remain involved as an executive producer.
As previously reported, the tentatively titled Jurassic World 3 will open on the twenty-eighth anniversary of the first film, on June 11, 2021, and will feature a script from Trevorrow and up-and-comer Emily Carmichael (Pacific Rim Uprising).
Trevorrow had previously been attached to direct Star Wars: Episode IX and passed the Jurassic World trilogy to acclaimed director J.A. Bayona, who helmed this summer's Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom. However, after losing the Star Wars job, it looks like his schedule was left with a pretty significant opening that lined up with the production schedule for the franchise's sixth film.
