THE MATRIX 4 Adds IRON FIST & GAME OF THRONES Actress Jessica Henwick In A Lead Role

The Matrix 4 continues to build its ensemble cast with interesting additions, and the latest is former Iron Fist and Game of Thrones actress Jessica Henwick, who has been cast in an undisclosed lead role.

After a lengthy audition process, Deadline is reporting that Jessica Henwick has joined the cast of Warner Bros.' upcoming The Matrix 4 in a lead role. Details are scarce, but it's believed the part will be that of a female-like Neo character at the forefront of the new film.

She joins a cast headlined by returning stars Keanu Reeves (John Wick: Chapter 3 - Parabellum) and Carrie-Anne Moss (Marvel's Jessica Jones), who will reprise their roles as Neo and Trinity, respectively, from the original trilogy, while new additions include Yahya Abdul-Mateen II (Aquaman) and Neil Patrick Harris (Gone Girl). Jada Pinkett Smith (Gotham) is also reportedly in early talks to reprise her role as Niobe from the sequels.

After helming the previous three installments with her sister, Lana Wachowski will be the sole director on the long-awaited sequel, utilizing a screenplay she co-wrote with Aleksander Hemon (Sense8) and David Mitchell (Cloud Atlas).

Henwick is, of course, best known for her role as Colleen Wing on Marvel/Netflix's Iron Fist, Luke Cage and The Defenders. Her past credits also include playing Nymeria Sand on HBO's Game of Thrones and Jess Testor in Disney/Lucasfilm's Star Wars: The Force Awakens. She can be seen next in Warner Bros./Legendary's Godzilla vs. Kong and also has roles in Paramount's Monster Problems, Sofia Coppola's On the Rocks, and 20th Century Fox's Underwater.
