THE MATRIX 4 Finds Another Key Piece In MINDHUNTER & FROZEN II Star Jonathan Groff
Warner Bros. and Village Roadshow's upcoming Matrix sequel, which will see both Keanu Reeves and Carrie-Anne Moss return, has found another key cast member in Mindhunter and Frozen II star Jonathan Groff.
With production expected to begin within the next few weeks, Collider is reporting that 2x Tony Award-nominated actor Jonathan Groff has signed on for Warner Bros. and Village Roadshow's The Matrix 4 in an undisclosed role.
He joins a cast headlined by returning stars Keanu Reeves (John Wick: Chapter 3 - Parabellum) and Carrie-Anne Moss (Marvel's Jessica Jones), who will reprise their roles as Neo and Trinity from the original trilogy, while new additions include Yahya Abdul-Mateen II (Aquaman), Jessica Henwick (Iron Fist) and Neil Patrick Harris (Gone Girl). Jada Pinkett Smith (Gotham) is also set to return as Niobe from the earlier sequels.
After helming the previous three installments with her sister, Lana Wachowski will be the sole director on the sequel, utilizing a screenplay she co-wrote with Aleksander Hemon (Sense8) and David Mitchell (Cloud Atlas).
Production on the eagerly awaited follow-up is expected to begin early next year.
Groff is probably best known for his starring role in David Fincher's critically acclaimed Netflix series, Mindhunter, and for his voice role as Kristoff in Disney's Frozen and Frozen II. His past credits also include, but are not limited to, American Sniper, C.O.G., The Conspirator, Glee, Looking and The Normal Heart.
