Deadline is reporting that Warner Bros. is planning a remake of The Island Of Dr. Moreau.
Warner Bros is going back to The Island Of Dr. Moreau. The studio and Appian Way partners Leonardo DiCaprio and Jennifer Davisson Killoran have set Lee Shipman & Brian McGreevy to pen a contemporary re-imagining of the H.G. Wells’ classic novel. The intention is to make it a sci-fi film with a topical ecological message. Appian Way will produce with Mad Hatter Entertainment’s Michael Connolly.

Lee Shipman and Brian McGreevy, along with Michael Connolly, created Netflix's supernatural murder myster, Hemlock Groves. The show, which has been renewed for a second season, has been nominated in two Emmys' categories, Outstanding Original Main Title Theme Music and Outstanding Special Visual Effects.

As for The Island Of Dr. Moreau, it's H.G. Wells' tale about a mad scientist on a remote island who performs ghoulish experiments that transform animals into men. The novel has been adapted to film SIX times. With the most notable being: 1932's Island of Lost Souls with Charles Laughton and Bela Lugosi, 1977's The Island of Dr. Moreau with Burt Lancaster and Michael York, and the 1996 remake starring Marlon Brando, Val Kilmer, David Thewlis, Fairuza Balk, and Ron Perlman.
